We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of James Lucas, 83, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. On July 5th, 2024, he peacefully joined his wife, Roslyn, in eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories.

Graveside Service:  11am Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas

James was born in Kentucky in 1941, raised in Missouri, and settled in Central Texas in Lorena in 1985. Throughout his remarkable life, he embraced a multitude of passions and hobbies. He had a talent for music and found great joy in strumming the guitar alongside his family. Their harmonies filled the air, creating beautiful melodies that brought them closer together.

Moreover, James had a creative soul that extended beyond music. He had a knack for building intricate sailboats and model railroads, pouring his heart and soul into each piece. These creations became treasured heirlooms, representing the passion and care he put into every detail.

James also found solace in the art of fishing. Whether by a calm lake or a majestic river, he embraced the tranquility of nature, casting his line and immersing himself in the peaceful surroundings. Fishing was not just a hobby for him; it was a way to connect with the world around him and find inner peace.

As a loving husband, father, and grandfather, James’s love multiplied. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they brought immense joy to his life. His love, creativity, and wisdom will forever reside in their hearts, reminding them of the amazing grandfather and great-grandfather he was.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Harold Lucas, Howard Lucas, Connie Kieth, and Ronna South. He is survived by his sister Donna Brown, who holds his memory close to her heart.

As we bid farewell to James, we take solace in the knowledge that his love and spirit will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Roslyn. Let us come together to celebrate the remarkable life of James Lucas, remembering his love for music, his creative pursuits, his love for fishing, and the joy he found in spending time with his family.

James is survived by his four children: Laura Bross and her husband Nick, Ginny Bross and her husband David, James Lucas and his wife Christine, and his youngest son Ricky Lucas. He is also survived by multiple generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

  5. Wow, I did not realize I had met James the year y’all had moved to Lorena. He was so talented, and I remember the little boats in the bottles he made. I have not seen any of y’all for about 30 years now, but at least we can all keep up on Facebook and see the wonderful things everyone is doing. Seeing the train buildings he has been making over the years and posting the pics online has been very nice. Prayers to everyone for your loss.
