Janet Renee’ Walker passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
Visitation: 6 -8PM Friday, July 21 at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 11AM Saturday, July 22 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.
Janet Renee’ Walker was born, September 3, 1957, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to loving parents Ted and Cecil Carter. The oldest of four children, she was raised in Waco, Texas; she attended Waco schools and continued her education at Huston-Tillotson and Paul Quinn College obtaining her degree in social work. Her faith played a significant role in her life allowing her to be a beacon of light and a valuable resource to many. Janet’s love for people showed throughout her professional career as she made countless contributions in many areas of healthcare including Cardinal Health, Prime Therapeutics, Medco Health Solutions, Dallas ISD, McLennan County Health Department and Central Texas MHMR. Even in her final days, she continued to utilize her gift for the betterment of others.
She is preceded in death by Marion’s father, Calvin “Jerry” Walker; father, Ted Carter; grandparents, Fay Lee Holmes, Marion “Jimbo” Dawson, Bobby White, T.W. White, and Charlie Carter.
Janet will be forever cherished in the memories of her loving mother, Cecil Carter; son, Marion (Tasha) Walker; siblings, Melanie (Edward), Brian (Lisa), and Anecia “Pooh”; and God-granddaughter, Naima, as well as a plethora of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
So sorry to hear of Janet’s passing. We worked together at Medco. She was such beautiful person and a wonderful mother.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Janet. We were good friends in our early years here in Waco. I always loved to see and be around her because she always had such a happy infectious smile. My prayers for comfort go out to the Carter family.

Janet was a very dear friend and I already miss her…every day. I still find it hard to believe that she is gone. She was a wonderful person and tried to help others if at all possible
