  6. There are no words to take the pain, no quick fixes no bandaids big enough to help heal the brokenness you each feel for your own reasons. My heart breaks with yours, my eyes cry tears for you and with you and my mind stands still in time thinking the similar thoughts, this cannot be. The only thing I can tell you is this, tomorrow may hurt worse than today but the next will surely hurt less. You can’t love someone for that long and not feel the emptiness so deep in ones soul that it feels as if the pain will never leave. It won’t. It will only be layered with the joys of our tomorrows and good time to to come. Never forgotten, always always???????????? May God pour His mercy and grace upon each one of you. Much love, The Legg Family

  7. Carol, I am so saddened to read this. I can’t imagine how you are feeling because your heart is so big and your arms stretch so wide.

Find a hymnal and read Charles Wesley’s hymn No. 656. I read this just yesterday to John Hardman at his wife Sonia’s funeral. Charles Wesley will give you comfort and assurance. God has always held Jason in his tight embrace, that embrace continues anew.

  8. Dear Doug and Carol,
When I read of Jason’s passing my heart hurt for you and yours. My mind quickly rushed back across the years to 1997 and the loss of our son. You folk were there for DD and me. You two helped us through some rough times. Please know that we are lifting you and the family in our prayers.
    John and DD

  13. I was lucky enough to have served with Jason in the Navy and have many fond memories of our time together. Jason loved his family, was loyal to his friends and spoke plainly and directly with junior Sailors. He was a Sailor’s Chief, a technical expert and an inspirational leader. Carol, Doug and Family

God bless and keep you in the loss of your son. May God hold you and his family in the Hollow of His Hand as you journey through this valley.

  17. Carol, Doug, Jeremy, Jenny, Arno, and Jen; God’s Grace upon you inside and out in this tragic time of grief and laughter that memories bring. Jason was one of God’s unique creations. I remember many many hours of long conversations we had about everything you can imagine. I don’t think any of us know how much he just wanted to please others and fit in but was driven by a different drummer. God had God’s arms around Jason for a lifetime and only a couple days ago tightened his grip to include showing him the most beautiful sights ever created. He beat us all there. And that is where he will be when we arrive at our appointed time. Now, listen to me … all of you … stop all the things of life and interruptions … get alone somewhere and lift your eyes to the light of our salvation far beyond the dim shadows of this life and look, look and listen … is he there? can you see him? … can you hear that ole Honda 500 he had, or one of those wild dreams he shared, or a tall tale he knew you couldn’t believe yet he would torment you to see what you would do. Love ole Jason, yes love him, love each other, be God’s people. Oh how I wish we all could go back to 1986 the year we moved to New Paris. Meeting the Duffields and many other great people were some of the best times of my life. God’s speed, be careful, maybe we could visit some time?

  18. Carol and Doug,
Thinking of you. Loving you. Praying for you.
    With heartfelt sympathy,
    Vicky and Joe Shreve

Comforter. Love and prayers to you and your family.

  29. I just learned of Jason’s passing. I am completely shocked and heart broken right now. Jason and I worked together during our ’97 cruise onboard U.S.S. John F. Kennedy. We were both assigned to ships security and we both enjoyed working that job. Unfortunately I didn’t get to spend much time with him after the cruise and I lost touch with him for 10 years until he and his family were transferred to NAS Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor WA. By that time he had gone from a third class petty officer to Chief Petty Officer. I was thrilled to see him and over the course of the next couple of years I got to spend some time with him and he helped me through a very difficult time in my life. I truly loved that guy. He was the most down to earth, honest guy I have ever known and I will miss him forever. I am truly sorry to all of his family and friends for this tremendous loss. He was one of a kind and I am proud to have known him and to have been his friend. RIP shipmate.
