Jerry Eugene Maddox, Sr. of China Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, April 3, 2022, surrounded by family. He passed away at the age of 79 after a brief battle with cancer.

Jerry was born March 10th, 1943 in Waco, Texas to Benjamin Ira Maddox and Sadie Viola Harris Maddox. He attended Waco High School where he met his first wife Wanda and later married July 2, 1960. He went on to work in the electrical field for IBEW, Local 72 for 43 years, continuing his membership for a total of 58 years, retiring in 2005. After his first wife’s passing, he and Mary Kay were married in August, 1994.
His favorite hobbies were hunting whitetail deer, riding his Harley-Davidson, taking pictures and woodworking. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, riding his golf cart (scooter) tending his pets and his chickens.
He is survived by his three children, Gaila & Neil Lessman of China Spring, TX, Jerry Jr. & Julia Maddox of China Spring, TX, and Darrell & Peggy Maddox of Bruceville-Eddy, TX; seven grandchildren, Jerry III & Ariel Maddox, Josh Lessman, Jeremy & Michelle Lessman, Jacqueline & Justin Kelly, Justin (Bumper) & Sadie Lessman, Jered & Hilarie Owens Maddox, Loryn Kellum and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three step-children, Wendy Nemmer of Waco, TX, Leslie Nemmer of Crawford, TX, David (Bubba) Nemmer of Waco, TX, many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Wanda (Sissy) Carol Maddox of 33 years, who passed away in May, 1993, and second wife Mary Kay Nemmer Maddox of 26 years, who passed away in April, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jack Maddox, sisters Gladys Powers and Helen Eskew.
