I was so blessed to be able to fly in for the visitation and Memorial Service in Waco this week. Jerry was singing "This Train is Bound for Glory" when we walked in the auditorium and then started preaching about heaven and singing about heaven.
JERRY PREACHED HIS OWN FUNERAL!
It was a wonderful time of sharing with the whole family the wonderful things about Jerry and how God used him so powerfully years ago.
I so appreciate all the family and Liz for the incredible hospitality and the wonderful service. Jerry would have loved it – laughing and crying and remembering the "Good Ole Days"! May God bless the wonderful and beautiful family of Jerry Goins.

I was friends with Jerry in high school. So much fun and a great personalty. Sorry we lost contact over the years. I am fortunate to be in contact with his sister, Glenda. To Jerry’s family my condolences. I know he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
I remember Bro. Goins best for his love for his God. His humbleness to our Lord and Savior.
I remember the anointed singing and his playing at the piano.
We all were blessed to have been a part of his life.
What happened to all of those years? I still so vividly remember Gene Dennis and I singing our favorite song, "In the still of the night" with You singing the lead. Wow!! THe thing you people should know and remember is that next week you will be 30 years older and saying,"I wish I had… " That is my confession in that how could I have let one of my all-time best friends pass in the night without maintaining correspondence. For that I am extremely humbled and regretfull. I will however remember our very early years growing up together in South Spring Valley, California (not a very nice area). With sister Glenda and cousin Billy it was a memory to cherish. Jerry and I were mostly inseparable through those years and throughout High School as friends and athletes. I wish to his whole family and friends all of God’s blessings and I know that he will be up there playing, singing and carrying on. I love you Jerry and please forgive me for not saying that sooner and staying in contact, but please know that many, many times you were in my heart. Dan
I have wonderful memories of Jerry Goins as my Pastor as a young girl in Michigan. I can still hear the wonderful singing at the Romulus COGOP. May God hold you close during this time.
My dear sweet Liz, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your precious family during this time.
May God grant each one of you peace.
All our love,
Debbie, Tom, Bethany, and Jessica
Our prayers are with you all.
Jerry was blessed to have a family full of people who love him and a huge extended family of friends and those whose lives he has touched. I have great memories of Jerry as my Pastor and as a father to my friends. In those years, I remember him always trying to be a joyful example of the things he would teach us. I know the Lord has welcomed him into his kingdom with open arms, full of love for his close friend coming home. The Lord Bless you all with Peace and Be with You.
Jerry found his way into many people hearts through ministry, song and fellowship of the gospel. To the family of Jerry, Jerry will be missed tremendously, for he was a inspiration and a genuine saved man of God.
Jerry was a dear friend and fellow evangelist for many years. He and I shared a passion for souls that created a bond like no other. He will be missed.
His kindness to me and to my family will forever be in my mind.
I pray that the Heavenly Father has recieved him into his rest and that his family will be comforted in this loss.
God bless you all.
Aunt Liz, Darrell, Keith, Cody, Preston, Marshall, Rondall, and Alicia, We were so saddened to hear of your loss. While nothing can ever quite prepare us to lose someone so dear, please know that all of you are in our daily thoughts and prayers. We love and miss you very much. Sincerest Condolences, Eric & Lisa Minor
Tenderly we treasure the past with memories that will always last. As you were, you will always be treasured forever in our memories. Miss you and love you.
Our prayers are with you at this time
I knew Jerry as my pastor and a friend. It was a joy to see him with his family as he showed them much love and attention. His sermons gave me encouragement in a difficult time of my life. My prayers are with the family…May God grant you peace and comfort.
I am Gene Dennis, a loving friend of Jerry’s since we were 15 years old. The passing of my "best friend" in our younger years has had a profound affect on me and the remembrance of Jerry as one of the most special people I have ever known. The fact that we drifted apart in the past 25 years of his life is only the result of the easy way out…he was in Texas and I was in California…Oh, too easy of an alibi!
For the many of you who knew him for a long time, but not all of you, Jerry brought a special vive to all who knew him and loved him! Not necessarily in the order of importance, Jerry was flawed (like all of us), but he was compassionate always, very fun, most loyal to his friends, smart, a wonderful athlete, totally musical and a selflessness that few of us attain. He was a member of my wedding celebration and one of the few people that I missed long before this moment.
Few of us are so blessed to have known and loved a person like Jerry and are equally blessed by his love for us.
Every day, before now, and to this day when I think of Jerry, I smile and feel special to have known him…
GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND!
With My Warmest Regards and Love to Jerry’s family and friends ~ and espcially his sister, Glenda
We are sadden to learn of the passing of your dad. We remember the old Ridgedale days in Chattanooga when we were all growing up. We hold those fond memories. God Bless all of you.
Merry Christmas, Dad!
We miss you.
I liked your singing and thought you were really cool. Now you can "Fly the friendly skies" with Jesus like you sang about. I liked giving you a smile when I told you that you looked like Elvis from the back.I’ll miss you until we meet again in Heaven.
Dear Goins Family,
We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Please know that each and everyone of you are in our prayers and thoughts at this time.
Love
Ronnie, Melanie, Rowdy and Lacee Yates
It is the LAST mile of the way counts – not the first, middle, or in between. Jerry’s last mile was in the arms of Jesus.
Jerry has been one of my best friends, and a great partner in ministry. Jerry has been a tremendous blessing to the Pleasant Grove Missinary Baptist Church Family, and he will be greatly missed. We are praying Gods blessing upon his family, and we will make ourselves available to support you in every area possible.Jerry we Love you,but we know that God loved you best,we will see you in Heaven. 2Cor 5:1
While we did not know Jerry very long the time we did was great. He is such an interesting man with a kind heart.
In my early ministry. Jerry had a great impact. We hold the family in prayer
I also share special memories of Pastor Jerry Goins as a child. I have kept those memories dear to my heart and always considered him my pastor. I remember him praying over me to be healed from repeated, severe ear infections and the pain eased as he laid his hand on me. From that time on, probably 20+ years ago, I have not had any ear infections. Through that experience the Lord used Jerry to show me how mighty He (Jesus) is and His unconditional love for me. Bro. Jerry was an anointed man of God and I know our Lord Jesus has welcomed him home. My prayers are with Liz and the family. May God comfort you all as only He can.

I ask You, Lord to comfort them because you love them and have promised them everlasting consolation and hope through your grace. Amen

I always had a good time with him when the family would get together. Family I Love you and I’m praying for you and I’m there in spirit.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all through this horrible tragedy. I’m so sorry for your loss.
