Jesse Cano

Jesse(1)

Jesse Cano, 32, a lifetime resident of Waco, left this world too soon Friday, August 23, 2024.

Funeral Service: 11AM Friday, August 30 at Greater Waco Baptist Church, 912 E. Loop 340, Waco, TX 76705. CLICK HERE to view the Live Stream of the service.

Jesse was born December 30th 1991 in Waco, Texas. Throughout Jesse’s short life, he always strived to serve his community and country. After graduating from UT of Austin with a bachelor’s degree, Jesse joined the US Army and served two active-duty deployments abroad. He continued that life-long service to others at home by becoming a police officer in his hometown of Waco. In recent years, he was extremely proud to become a member of the SWAT team as an explosive breacher specialist. He had recently qualified for a Sergeant’s promotion.

Though in his life, Jesse’s greatest joy was becoming a husband and soon to be father. On a trip to Mexico, he met the love of his life and future wife Tammika Cano. After a whirlwind courtship including numerous travels together abroad and to each other’s respective countries, they were married February 1, 2020.

For someone so young in years, Jesse lived a life far greater than most could imagine. The people who knew and loved him in life will keep his memory alive in their hearts and by continuing the work he devoted so much of his life to. Most of all, his unborn child will carry on his name and his legacy.
Jesse was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Reynaldo Garza Ortiz and Margaret Alonso Ortiz.
He will be insurmountably missed and is deeply loved by his mother, Racheal Cano; father, Juan Cano; brothers, Mario Cano and Juanito Cano; sister, Brittany Cano; and his cousin, Andrew Aleman, whom Jesse loved as a brother; nephew, Juan Cano; niece, Kya Cano; niece, Betty Cano; aunt, Maria Flores; cousin, Mariel Flores; cousin, Miriam Flores; cousin, Dalindo Galndo; and sister-in-law, Shyrees Thompson.

  5. Ganó is a good cop and a great friend. He will truly be missed. Also , I hope his family remember’s the good times they had together. Had a big personality that could fill the room. Cano is the only person I’ve seen who actually prayed with a suspect we had in custody.

  6. My prayers are with you and your family. This is not easy but with the help of almighty God, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, He will comfort you, guide you, protect you, watch over you and continue loving you in Jesus name, amen

  7. I am incredibly sorry for your loss and I’m thinking of you and your family. I worked with Cano the last four years at Waco Pd and I just wanted you to know the impact he had on those of us who had the privilege of working with him.

He was incredibly good at his job and was a role model for so many of us. But more importantly, he was extremely positive every day and was an uplifting presence in a profession where it is so easy to have a negative outlook. He was also very generous with his time and helped new officers as often as he could.

The impact he had on our lives and how he made us feel will not be forgotten.

  8. My heart and prayers are with the family.

  9. There are no words to express but my prayers to each

  12. Officer Cano was one of the best around. The best around! He treated everyone with love, respect, and care. I’ve had calls for service with OFC. Cano, in my professional life and personal life. Last I spoke with him was at a SWAT Training at Hawaiian Falls. He checked on me as always, and made sure I was okay. A hero, my hero! Officer Cano you will be missed but your legacy will carry on.

    Brother and friend.
