Jimmy was a Christian who honored his God and family. He was baptized at Elm Mott First Baptist Church and he had been a member of Parkview Baptist Church since 2007. He was a true friend and would do anything for anyone in need. He loved working and planting his garden. He will truly be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jimmy attended many schools growing up as his family moved from job to job in the construction business. He completed his primary education at Connally High School and then went on to 4-C Business College. As a young man he worked at Clifton Manufacturing, 7-Up Bottling and sold insurance for American National. He joined his brothers doing construction, specializing in dozer work, site prep and soil conversation. Developing a reputation of honesty, integrity and the very best in their field, Jimmy, Benny and Ed all had incomparable work ethics. He also did some large jobs in Waco with Ed and W.T. Bradbury. He went on to purchase Byford Morris Co., entering the demolition and materials recycling business. In 1981 he founded Shilling Pipe and Steel. Jimmy owned and operated Jimmy Shilling Construction Co. and worked for many contractors in the Waco and surrounding areas. He opened Navarro Pipe and Steel in Corsicana, Texas. Jimmy and Carolyn built and operate a storage facility, The Storage Place since 1995.

I am so sorry for all of y’all’s loss mr Jimmy was a great man and I absolutely loved talking to him I looked up to him a whole lot I will never forget the first time I meet him he was sitting on top of his. D-3 he had shut it off quick and just as quick he told me how I should not do that to a dozer motor that had been pushing hard will never forget the day and. Still live by that rule today thanks to him didn’t have a clue at the time but I know now why such a great man and even though I have not seen him in years since the last time which was when we had breakfast together in McDonald’s but he will be missed so much in my heart and as well he taught me a lot about dozer work back then I was just a kid that lived and breathed and loved equipment at the time and I wound up with his 1984 case box blade when he sold it to me I could go on and on about how much of a great man I know Jimmy was Again I am sorry for y’all’s loss and all will be in my prayers Heaven gained a good man for sure
