JoAnn (Hurst) Anderson, 87, of Elm Mott, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at a West nursing center.

Funeral Service: 11a.m., Monday, July 22 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phillip Hurst officiating. Interment will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
Visitation: 30 minutes prior to the service.

JoAnn was born March 21, 1937 in Waco, the oldest child of L.B. and Rozina (Navara) Hurst. JoAnn lived in Lacy Lakeview from 1937 to 1979. Later, she and her husband Tommy moved to the Anderson Farm in Elm Mott.

JoAnn went to Lakeview School and Connally High School and graduated in 1955.  In July of 1955, JoAnn married her high school sweetheart, Tommy Carlton Anderson. They celebrated 68 wonderful years of marriage before Tommy’s passing in 2023. Tommy and JoAnn were blessed with two children, Clifford, and Clinton. She worked 33 years for Connally ISD, retiring in 2001. She was a long-time, active member of Lakeview United Methodist Church and later Elm Mott United Methodist Church. JoAnn loved gardening, quilting and sewing. She adored her family.

JoAnn was also preceded in death by her parents, L.B. and Rozina Hurst; her in-laws, Clyde and Pearl Anderson; brother, Lloyd Allen Hurst; and brothers-in-law, Scotty Anderson, and Bill Dameron.

Survivors include sons, Clifford Anderson and wife Theresa, and Clinton Anderson and wife Tina; grandchildren, Shane Anderson and wife Karla, Jeffrey Anderson and wife Colby, Cody Anderson and wife Shelly, Jennifer Parsons and husband Stuart, and Tyler Anderson; great grandchildren, Bryson Lamere, Jaxon Anderson, Jax Heflin, Evie Anderson, Jake Anderson, Parker Parsons, Remi Parsons, and Jeorgia Anderson; brother-in-law, Jerry Anderson and wife Barbara; sister-in-law, Dolly (Dameron) Scott and husband Jim; sisters-in-law, Roberta Anderson, Cindy (Hurst) Snokhous and her husband George; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Lakeview United Methodist Church or Elm Mott United Methodist Church.

  3. My condolences to the family. I resided and grew up next door to Clifford and Clinton. During my younger years I can recall Mrs. Anderson always was there to keep us on the right path. She always had whatever we needed whether it was a bologna sandwich or a cold glass of water ( when we were not drinking out of the garden hose). Mrs. Anderson
    was so polite and such a sweet person and I will always remember my childhood memories. Mrs. Anderson, you were a great lady and you had an impact on my life. The good Lord has truly received an angel. Rest easy Mrs. Anderson, you will be missed but not forgotten.
