John “Tommy” McElwrath, 65, of China Spring, passed away Thursday, July 9th.
Celebration of Life Service: 2PM Friday, July 17th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Gayle officiating. John would prefer you “come as you are.”
A reception will follow in the funeral home’s reception Center.
Private Burial: China Spring Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8PM Thursday, July 16th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.
John was born November 23, 1949 in Waco to John and Mary Ellen (Lucas) McElwrath. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 to 1973 on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk during Vietnam. He worked at the Waco V.A. Hospital for six years, and worked for U.S. Postal Service for over 20 Years. He married Gloria on October 31, 1994.
He was preceded in death by his son, JT McElwrath in 2005; and his parents, John and Mary McElwrath.
Survivors include wife of 20 years, Gloria McElwrath; children, Chad McElwrath, Ammanda Wright, Michelle Wright, and Doug Wright; nine grandchildren; sister, Alice Palasota; and his beloved cat.
John was loved and will be missed by his family.
