Johnny Thomas Ferrill, Sr., 77, of Elm Mott, Texas passed away July 26, 2021. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 29, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Lake Shore Funeral Home.  Services will be held Friday, July 30, at 10:00 AM at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel located at 5201 Steinbeck Bend with Pastor David Arnett officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Ross.

Johnny was born February13, 1944 to parents, Everett and Nola Mae Ferrill in Elm Mott where he and his eleven siblings were raised.

Johnny worked for Gulf States Paper in Waco, retiring after 30 years.  He loved going to church and was a man of strong faith who would never hesitate to spread the Word of God and if was here today he would encourage you to accept Jesus as your personal Savior. Johnny was also very much a family man who always enjoyed spending time around family as much as possible.  He loved animals, but especially horses.  Johnny had a true passion for horses, which was a common thread throughout his lifetime; from raising show colts to many years of trail rides, he spent as much time as he could on horseback.

Several years ago, at a local hardware store, as if by fate, Johnny ran into an old school friend, Janette Jolly-Taylor.  The two of them began talking and a relationship developed.  The two became inseparable, and Janette held a special place in Johnny’s heart from that point on.

Survivors include son, John Ferrill, Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; daughter, Mitzi Markum and husband, Jack, of Chalk Bluff; adopted daughter, Cassidy Bruce and husband, Robby, of West; grandchildren John (J.T.) Ferrill III, Randi Yrios, Jack Wyatt Markum, and Tylor Bruce.

Special thanks to all of the staff at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital.

    Cassidy, Robby and Tylor
I am so sorry for y’all’s loss. We will keep you guys in our thoughts and prayers, in this difficult time. Johnny was the most amazing and funniest man. He really loved y’all so much. I will always be so thankful of the friendship we had. I looked forward to his appointment every month. He loved to talk about Tylor and his games.
After that we had to talk about the lady bears basketball games. And he never left without talking about our Lord. That man loves his Lord like he loved his horses.
I will never forget The pack we made to go back to the Church he so loved. And I give him all the thanks and love for that.
It was like old times again.
He said Sandy Lynch we are home now, I guess he thought his work was done.
I will always remember him and the days leading up to that Sunday.
He will be our hearts for ever.
I will miss him, he was a true friend and great client.
    Love you guys.
