Johnny W. Tye, 74, of Waco, passed away Saturday, June 20th, 2015.
Funeral services: Thursday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Wyers officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
Visitation: 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to service.
Johnny was born August 19, 1940 in Eddy to Curtis and Sallie (Pitts) Tye. He married Cleta Taylor on August 26, 1961. He retired from Central Freight Lines after many years. Johnny enjoyed golfing, and rooten’ for his Texas Aggies. He adored his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Tye; sisters, Flossie Ingram, Eula Flemmons, and Vera Lawrence; and brothers, Curtis Tye, Jr., Sydney Tye, and Carl Tye.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Cleta Tye of Waco; his daughter, Melissa Vincelette and her husband Donald of China Spring; grandson, Tyler Hill of China Spring; grandson, Jacob Hill of China Spring; great granddaughter, Bristol Hill; brothers, Gene Tye of Eddy, and Dean Tye of McGregor; and step-grandchildren, William Vincelette and Patrick Vincelette of Humble, TX.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Hill, Jacob Hill, Greg Hudson, Troy Edison, Monte Cross, Larry Tye, Danny Tye, Ronnie Tye, and Curtis Tye.
The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to Westview Manor in McGregor, TX and to brother, Gene Tye.

Cleta, we were so sorry to hear that Johnny had passed away. The Lord has a new and sweetest angel now. Johnny was such a good friend to Ray playing golf and I got to know him even better at the day care. The world has lost a man that was so nice to everyone he met and will be truly missed by all. Always a shock to hear of the loss of another member of our family. Sooooo very sorry Cleta and Melissa for it being time for Johnny to leave us. I am thankful that he is no longer suffering. But instead he is singing with the rest of God’s angels as God enfolds Johnny into an embrace that must be incredible beyond words. We love you!!!!!!
Dear Cleta, I wish to offer our condolences to your family for Johnny’s passing. I know of no words that can express the loss that you and your family are going through.
During the many years I worked with Johnny I can truly say that in addition to being intelligent and hard working, he was always a such a happy and pleasant person to be around. He will be missed here on earth. But Heaven is now a better place with Johnny on board.
