Jonathan L. Hackett, 57, of Montgomery, TX, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 19, 2019.
Funeral Service: 10AM Saturday, May 25th at Rylie Church of Christ, 10240 Rylie Rd. in Dallas, 75217. Burial will follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite.
Visitation: will be 30 minutes prior to the church service.
Jonathan L. Hackett was born on July 12, 1961 in Dallas, TX to Jack R. and Jo Ann Hackett. Born into a legacy of love and dedication to God, family, and friends, Jonathan best expressed these core values through the language of music. From memorable high school musicals at H. Grady Spruce to stirring renditions of songs and hymns with the Aggies for Christ, his voice became known for its power and passion.
Following in his parents’ footsteps, he was always eager to encourage and support family…including extended family. Jonathan traveled to Peru in 1981 to be with Jackie while working with missions there. In 1984, he went to help Joni and Sam, ministering in Papua New Guinea. Then, after graduating from Texas A&M University, Jonathan went on to work with several agricultural companies taking him around the world. With family always on his mind, he would return with gifts for each niece and nephew. Though he could be fierce as a lion, he was also gentle as a lamb and had a tender heart that showed how much he loved his family. His love knew no boundaries.
While working as an executive in the cotton ginning industry, Jonathan met his future wife, Renee Craig, and daughter, Heather Craig. Jonathan and Renee were married on November 28, 1998. In December of 1999, they were blessed with a son, Jacob; and in October of 2001 with another daughter, Jillian.
Wherever they resided, Jonathan and family served in the local church and community in numerous ways. When Jonathan saw a need at the Collinsville school district, his servant’s heart led him to run for school board where he served for 10 years. When his children got involved with the Collinsville High School marching band, he stepped in as a jack-of-all-trades; from driving the band trailer to encouraging every band member as if they were one of his own. He was also actively involved in the church’s LTC and VBS programs where he loved to lead the children in song. Jonathan was most recently employed by United Ag & Turf, serving as Store Manager in Navasota, TX.
Jonathan is preceded in death by his parents, Jack R. and Jo Ann Hackett.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Hackett; children, Heather, Jacob, and Jillian; sisters, Jackie and husband Roland, and Joni and husband Sam; in-laws, Albert & Darlene Outcalt; sisters-in-law, Noelle Beckley and husband Phil, Anissa Snyder and husband Nick; brothers-in-law, David Outcalt and wife Carla, Daniel Outcalt and wife Indy, Nathaniel Outcalt and wife Elizabeth; and many precious nieces, nephews, and cousins.

I was so saddened to hear this news. Mr. Hackett was always such a happy positive force to be around. He was an easy man to admire and look up too. I have many fond memories of him and the whole Hackett family from high school marching band. I’m praying for your family.
Renee, and Heather, Jacob, and Jillian, I am so sorry for the passing of Jonathan. He was such a sweet and thoughtful, and respectful soul. My prayers are so much with you. I know firsthand how special your whole family is. Renee, just know I will always be here just to talk, listen, visit, whatever you need.
Renee, Heather, Jacob and Jillian, blessings and strength for days, years to come. He loved you so much. Last time we spoke. He was hoping to spend time with Jacob before he left for college, hope, the two of you had that. His smile was contagious. He would come around the corner of my office and hold his hand up pointing his finger, without saying a word. I knew he was asking if Kemp was in his office.
All of you cared about the school . As a community, we hated to see you move, but yet excited for you. Lean on each other and may God hold you in his loving arms of comfort. LUVU

Renee,
Lynn and I are very sorry to heat of Jonathan’s passing. We knew him back in the AFC, in the 80. He was a grooms man in our wedding. His love of music, for God’s glory, will be missed. The song in our wedding was on old Irish blessing: ” May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. The sun shine warm upon your face. The rain fall soft upon your fields. and until we meet again May God, May God, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord cause his face to shine upon you and give you peace.” Until we meet Jonathan again, he will be missed.
Jonathan was a man of faith and a child of God’s. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. My heart goes out to your entire family. Having known Jonathan for 30 years the one thing that impressed me most was the love he had for God and his family … the smile he had on his face when he spoke of both and how happy he was when he was around his family . Jonathan loved children. After church on Mother’s Day 30 years ago he invited myself and 4 daughters out to lunch to celebrate the day along with 2 other of his friends from church and from there a deep friendship developed. He was a genuine example to my daughters of what a Christian man should be and for that I will always be grateful. Jonathan once stated to me that his mother’s prayer was that he would meet a nice Christian girl and start a family of his own. Jonathan went on to do just that with Renee and have his forever family that he loved with all of his heart . Today on Fathers Day I’m sure that he is smiling down from heaven on his children and wife. I can hear Jonathan’s powerful voice singing “ He Knows Just What I Need” Let God wrap you in his arms and bring you continuing comfort. Sharon Daniel
Praying for your family, heaven has gained a beautiful voice. I will always remember his beautiful voice during middle & high school . Praying for Gods comfort.
