Joyce Jean Graham

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joyce Jean Spurgeon Graham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 surrounded by her family at the age of 76.

A Celebration of Life Service: 2PM Tuesday, May 14th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel in Waco with Mike Myers officiating. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home’s reception center.

Joyce was born on March 1, 1943 to Alfred and Marie Spurgeon in Dallas.  A 1961 graduate of South Oak Cliff High School, Joyce also served in the Navy.  For many years Joyce worked in the Southwestern Territory office in Dallas for Sears Roebuck and Co.  Joyce and her husband, Gordon Graham were married for 52 years and had two sons,  Darrell Fuston of The Woodlands and Derek Graham of Frisco.

A lifelong avid golfer, she played many rounds of golf and had friends all over Dallas and most recently in Waco.  The family were long time members of Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Dallas and Lake Waco Country Club in Waco.  She was well known in the golfing community not only as a participant but also as a supportive Mom not only to her sons playing the game but also to all fellow competitors who came in contact with her.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father Alfred “Slim” Spurgeon originally from Bristol, and her mother Marie Bandy Spurgeon also from Bristol.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Graham; her sons, Darrell Fuston and Derek Graham; along with 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

The family wishes to express their great appreciation to Providence Hospice Place and The Atrium of Bellmead for their loving and gentle care during this difficult time.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I lost contact with cousin Joyce for many years, then we met up on facebook and shared
    some memories of our youth. Joyce was a wonderful person and i regret that we were unable to get together in our later years. I know she was very proud of her family.

    Joyce and I didn’t get to see each other often, but we did stay in touch. I wish we could have lived closer. She was a sweet, loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all.
