Katherine Ann Shehorn, 62, passed away on April 14, 2019, in Austin.
Funeral Service: 3PM Saturday, April 20th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel in Waco.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service.
Private Family Interment: Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.
She was born September 29, 1956 in Temple, Texas to O.W. Shehorn and Willie “Billie” Shehorn. Katherine Shehorn went by “Kathy” from an early age. At 14 months old, Kathy fell into a mysterious coma and after partial recovery, she became more paralyzed from contracting measles eight months later. She attended special educational classes at Scott Elementary in Temple. She was also a patient at The Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas and at Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation, and was a student at Hughen State School in Port Arthur. She was a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan and was a season ticket holder for six years.
Kathy amazed everyone by her glowing smile and constant sense of humor in spite of her constant pain and inability to walk. Saying only a few words, she communicated with a word board and her special hand signs while using her only operable arm. She had a photographic memory. Her unwavering faith in God guided her through over sixty years of disability.
She is survived by her brothers, David Shehorn of Riesel, and Bobby Shehorn of Austin.

I am so very sad to hear about Kathy. But am rejoicing with her today as she is running those streets of gold and telling everyone verbally about those Dallas Cowboys. Kathy went to our Church – Bethel Assembly of God for years and we became close friends. She always was a prankster….she loved to make people laugh.
She will be missed but we will see her again.
May she rest in peace now. My heartfelt condolences to you Bobby and David. May your good memories help to ease your pain.
I am so very sorry to hear the passing of such a beautiful lady, I remember hanging out with her and my beautiful godparents when I was little, such a beautiful caring family, love and prayers sent.
So sorry for your loss Bobby. You and your family are in my prayers.
In 1975 at age 15, I spent the summer staying with Kathy during the day. How well I remember her word board and bell!!! We watched Young and The Restless every day! Because of her, I am still caring for those with disabilities!
I am so sorry for your loss, you are all in my prayers!
