Katherine S. Kentfield, 44, of China Spring, passed away on Thursday morning, January 25, 2024 at a local hospital.
Celebration Gathering: 5 to 7PM Friday, March 8 at the China Spring Tabernacle.
Katie was born September 24, 1979 in Santa Monica, California, to Suzanne and Ronald Kentfield. After attending Woodbridge High School in Irvine, CA she joined her mom and stepfather in Waco in 2001.
Warm, compassionate, and loving to all, Katie was truly a bright light. She raised the energy level everywhere she went, always making new friends all along the way. Ever creative and up for a challenge, she always had craft projects in process, and created joy all around her, whether avidly supporting her kids in all their sports and activities, or just “kicking back” with friends and family at home or at the ranch. She nurtured that sense of adventure in her beloved children as well. She paid close attention to the wonders in nature all around her and she pleased God by creating joy in everyone she touched with her vibrance.
Katie remained upbeat and determined throughout an all-consuming 20-year battle with Scleroderma and a brutal two-year battle when the final symptoms took over. Now she is finally at peace.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Kentfield; and sister, Korinne Beatty.
She is survived by her daughters, Samantha Schuerg and Lilly Kentfield; mother, Suzanne Kentfield Wilson and stepfather, Charles Wilson; brother-in-law, Tim Beatty; step-brother, Graham Wilson and wife, Jennifer; step-sister, Abigail Newton and husband, Charles Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family asks that any memorials be made in the form of donations to Fuzzy Friends, 6321 Airport Rd, Waco, TX 76708.

Katie, your light was the brightest. If all of us could look at life the way you did, treat others the way you did, and make people feel the way you did, this world would be a better place. Your beautiful spirit will be tremendously missed. God bless your family. Sending big hugs and lots of love.
I’m heartbroken to hear that Katie has passed away. Bright light gone far too soon. I have wonderful memories of Katie treating me with kind open arms when I moved to Irvine my junior year and joined the volleyball team at Woodbridge HS. She was a talented athlete and kind friend always smiling. Sending my deepest condolences to Katie’s family and friends.
I’m sorry for your loss. She will be remembered.

Sweet Katie. She was so full of life and warmth. Always friendly and kind. Even in high school, when so many put up hard exteriors, Katie was always open and loving. Rest sweet girl, rest.

My heart goes out to Katie’s girls and her family and loved ones.
I knew Katie in middle school and high school. She was a very sweet girl. She was always smiling and very bubbly. The type of person who brought positive energy into the room.
I’m sorry you suffered so much in your short life. I know your girls were everything to you.
Rest well Katie. ❤️
Hard to believe wasn’t long ago i helped level her pool. She was a good girl and will be missed.
Katie was always the “other Katie” to me growing up. Except she was much more talented in sports. Yet she never made me feel lesser, and constantly showed an inner and outer beauty rare for a teenager. She was such a lovely person, and fought this disease so bravely. I’m blessed to have known her. Sending her kids, family and friends so much love. Rest in Peace, brave warrior.
Katie Sue/Noodle-
From the moment we met- we were a force to be reckoned with! I don’t even know how to express my feelings to you. We have been friends through our teens, 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s! We were just texting about we couldn’t believe we were 44 years old. We have been exchanging Snowmen ornaments since we were 21 years old. I just received my annual Snowman ornament and Snowman Soup Kit (cutest and most clever idea- but that is Katie). I promise to keep the tradition alive with your girls. I love you and I will forever miss you. I hope you grabbed some Del Taco Del Sorcho, for Kori! I love you
sorry to hear. My friend Levent Ozcakir dated her in high-school. RIP
