Kenneth Ray Niemeier, 70, of McGregor died Saturday, December 6, 2014, in Waco, TX with his family by his side.
Kenneth was born on March 2, 1944 at home in McGregor, TX, the son of Albert Niemeier and Erna (Wiechering) Niemeier. He graduated from McGregor High School in 1962, continued his education in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration from Texas State Technical Institute in 1974 and attended M…cLennan Community College in 1977 for Real Estate Law, Bookkeeping and Business. From 1962-1974 Kenneth was a Texas National Guard Recruiter in Gatesville, TX. From 1968-1973 he managed Montgomery Wards in Ft. Worth, Texas. From 1973 -1979 he was a sales manager for City Tire and Battery. In 1980 Kenneth worked at Hercules Incorporated in McGregor, TX advancing through many job titles and ending as a Manufacturing Foreman III until they closed in 1995. After moving to Whitney, TX Kenneth found him a job to keep him busy at Kase Horticulture and retired in 1996. He married his wife Brenda (Donaldson) Niemeier, June 7, 2010 and lived in Hewitt, TX.
Ken is survived by his wife, Brenda (Donaldson) Niemeier, of Waco, TX; his son Greg Niemeier and wife Jennifer of Clifton, TX; and his son Brent Niemeier and wife Renessa, of Crawford, TX. Step-son Brandon Young and wife Jennifer of Hewitt, TX, Step-son Ernest Willich Jr of San Antonio, TX, Step-daughter Renee Ridling and husband Robbie Ridling of McGregor, TX. Eight Granddaughters; Cheyenne Niemeier, Alison Niemeier, Natalie Niemeier, Maritza Aguilar, Kinsley Young, Amy Ridling, Sarah Ridling, and Haeley Willich. Four Grandsons; Colten Niemeier, Ryker Young, Kevin Polasek, and Rylen Ridling. Great-Granddaughter; Bristol Dawn Niemeier. Brother; Jerry Niemeier and wife Brenda, Nephew; Jason Niemeier, Great Nieces; Kaitlyn Dixon and Taylor Niemeier. Great-Great Niece Kaedyn Dixon.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Albert Niemeier, of McGregor, TX; his Mother, Erna (Wiechering) Wehmeyer, of McGregor, TX; and his Brother, Vernon “Bubba” Niemeier, of McGregor, TX.
Ken was a social, active man who loved to fish, garden, or anything that had to do with building, working on something, or just relaxing in a pool or on a boat. He enjoyed fishing for crappie the most. Ken had a very green thumb and could grow anything. His garden always flourished with fresh vegetables. His family and friends will always remember him with a smile on his face and willing to lend a helping hand kind of person.
A memorial service is scheduled for Ken on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Doc’s on Main Restaurant at 6:00 p.m. Jim Fitzhugh will officiate.
