Larry Hooten

Larry “Papaw” Hooten, 75, lost his battle with cancer Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Providence Hospice Place surrounded by his family.

A Blessing of his life:  will be held at the Hooten Farm, 234 HCR 2125, Whitney, Tx, on Sunday, May 6th, at 1pm.

A Celebration of Life Service:  will follow at Country Roads Club, 3261 FM 933 S, Whitney, Tx, starting around 2pm.
Larry was born June 2, 1942, in Dallas, Tx, to John H. Hooten and Madge E. Wilson. He attended South Oak Cliff High School and excelled at all sports.
Larry married his true love, Patricia, August 28, 1970. They loved to travel and definitely lived life to the fullest.
Larry was a welder by trade, but dabbled in many other business endeavors.  Larry, along with Pat and his sons, had several successful businesses throughout the years and have made lifelong friendships with many people through these business adventures.
Larry was also a lover of music. Boy, could he and Pat dance!  Many would watch in amazement of their connection and fluidity on the dance floor.  After dancing became a little too much on the joints, Larry turned to concert going. The friends he has made and  the amazing people he has hung out with “on the road”  would make many envious!
Larry is survived by: his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Hooten; 3 sons – Shane Hooten and his wife, Patricia, of Whitney, Chad Hooten and his wife, Kristen, of Whitney, and Greg Hooten, of Lewisville; 6 grandchildren – Shanda Girsh, of Whitney, Chelsea Hooten, of Whitney, Taylor Hooten, of Mineola, Kaylin and Cash Hooten, of Whitney, and Meghan Hooten of Round Rock; and 4 great grandsons – Bryson, Jaxon, Cooper, and Camden, all of Whitney.
Larry was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother, Donald H.  Hooten.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for monetary donations or donations of drinks/snacks to Providence Hospice Place, 300 W. Hwy 6, Waco, Tx, 76712, in remembrance of our Papaw, Larry Hooten.
