John LeRamon Sims, known to most as Le Sims, 71, of Elm Mott, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at his residence. Visitation is from 6-8pm, Monday, June 9th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel, 5201 Steinbeck Bend Dr., Waco. Funeral services are 10am, Tuesday, June 10th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Moore of Navarro Mills Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff.

Le was born April 25, 1943 to Ramon and Iva Lee (Barton) Sims in Oglesby . He married Wilma Jean Williams on October 19, 1962, and together they shared almost 52 years of marriage. During his lifetime, Le worked at S & H Auto Supply for well over 20 years, and owned and operated his own S & H Auto Supply for 5 years in Gatesville. He spent the rest of his working years with Car Quest until his retirement. Le was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Lacy Lakeview and served as a deacon there for several years. He loved sharing his faith with others, and would take the time and effort to introduce the love of Christ to everyone he could. Le was quite the child-magnet, too.  Children and kids of all ages enjoyed spending time around him, which would often result in Le taking them to church, which would eventually lead the children to bring their parents to church.

Le also loved the thrill of Garage Sale hunting, and enjoyed taking friends and family with him often on his treasure hunts. Le will be remembered as a hard worker, devoted family man, devout Christian, and a true friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Iva Sims.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma Sims of Elm Mott; son, Billy Joe Sims of Axtell; grandson, Joey Sims and wife Anna of Axtell; granddaughter, Ashley McDonald of Dennison; four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members and dear friends.

Pallbearers will be Lance Horton, Jonathon Sims, Charles Sims, Mark Taylor, Will Midgett, Howard Thompkins, Tommy Lanier, and David Williams. Honorary Pallbearer is Bob Collins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Le’s name be made to Lakeview Baptist Church.

Special thanks from the family to Mark and Teresa Taylor, Leann Garrett, and DeAnna Schmidt, for their friendship, their love, and their special care.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708

I am very greatful that Le was a wonderful man, because he has been very good to my daughter and her family. He took my granddaughter to church until he felt too ill to go, and she we miss him dearly. I believe he will continue to look after the ones he loved.

  5. Hello,,

I worked for Le in Bellmead when I was in high school.

Le has awesome patience to have someone working for him like me.

I was a young dumb kid but Le did all he could to teach me what he wanted me to learn.

I could see the relief on his face when I told him I would be ‘resigning’ my ‘position’….

Le was a very good man, a good teacher, and I enjoyed being around him.

He would not have probably wouldn’t say that about me…….. but I remember him like yesterday. It was good.
