Performs all embalming activities of the deceased properly and respectfully.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cares for deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which include: verifying identification and embalming authorization; performing restorations; completing removals and transfers; dressing, styling hair and or applying cosmetics, and; any other preparation required for human remains
- Assists with maintenance of preparation room and the crematory facility
- Assists with chemical and supply inventory
- Promotes a safe work environment by being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conduct
- Care for deceased in a respectful manner while performing all the tasks involved in the cremation process
- Receive remains and ensure all documentation is complete
- Complete all required documentation with respect to cremation process and equipment maintenance
- Strict adherence to all professional, municipal, state/provincial and federal licensing authority regulations applicable to the cremation of human remains
- Promote a safe work environment by being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conduct
- Maintain the crematory, equipment and adjacent facilities
- Other duties as directed by management
Experience and Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from accredited mortuary college or other degree as required by state law
- Embalmer, Apprentice experience as required by state law
- 3 years of embalming experience preferred
- To be company and state certified, or working towards certification, to cremate human remains in Texas
- Good driving record and valid current driver’s license required if performing removals and transfers of decedents and delivering cremated remains.
- Previous customer service experience would be an asset
- Basic Computer Proficiency
- Good communication skills
- High level of compassion and integrity
- Ability to multi task and set priorities
