Lemuel “Bud” E. Lockhart, III, 92, of Waco, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
Memorial Service: 1:30pm Saturday, June 29, 2024 with Military Honors at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street Beaumont Tx.
Bud, as he was nicknamed and called by all, was born on February 2, 1932, in Beaumont, Texas to Lemuel and Emelia Lockhart, Jr. He went to Texas A&M University for three years, joining the Air Force and qualifying for the pilot training program at Connally Air Force Base in Waco, Texas. While in training he met and married Sally Head with whom he had two children. He flew jets, bombers, and tankers. He went to England in the Atlantic and to Guam, Okinawa, and Thailand in the Pacific. He retired from the Strategic Air Command in 1972. He worked as a Financial Planner for USPA and IRA, working with military personnel and upon retirement he settled in Austin, Texas. He lived there quite happily until 2021 when he moved to Waco to be close to his son and daughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joan.
He is survived by son, Parker and wife, Holly of Valley Mills, TX; daughter Carol and husband Wamos, of China Spring, TX; grandchildren Jordyn and husband Chayce of Moody, TX, Jacob Lockhart and wife Samantha of Troy, TN, Tiffany L’Roy and husband Rhys; great granddaughter, Elizabeth L’Roy of Rosamond, CA, and Kimberly Chapman of Fort Worth, TX.
Our Dad left us written instructions/arrangements for his passing and the following statement is from those instructions: “I have passed and if anyone has a claim, speak up.”
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
