Linda Covington, 68, of Waco, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021.

Linda was born May 3, 1953, just days before the 1953 Waco Tornado, to parents Holton Covington and Marjorie Deerman Covington. Linda was a life-time resident of Waco, a 1972 Richfield High School graduate, and worked in the hospitality industry for decades where her love of people really shone. Linda greatly valued friendships, and never met a stranger. If she knew you, she loved you. She was a very kind and joyful person, and always expressed her appreciation for those in her life who helped her through her voyage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Kristian Dee Tynes.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Hope Howard; brother, John Battle Covington; sister, Suzanne Covington Frederick and husband, Phil; daughter-in-law, Brandi Jo Tynes; grandchildren, Ainsley Claire Scarborough, Emmilieze Fay Tynes, Gabriella Hope Abruzzese, Grayson Payne Abruzzese; niece, Jessica Frederick Parsley (Chad) and nephew Jonathan Frederick (Laine); and great nieces, Norah and Caroline Parsley; and many beloved friends.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Jeffrey Place for their kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to caring for Linda. Her life was enriched by her relationships with each of you. Also special thanks to lifetime friends Debbie McKnight King and Sheryl Jones for their loyal friendship and love they showed Linda through the years.

    So sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. She was always so sweet to me and my girls, who were her stepdaughters at one time. Although she was divorced from his grandfather , she even came to the hospital when my first grandchild was born and we celebrated him together. That was the kind of loving person she was. May she finally rest in peace.
