Linda Engeling was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world December 1, 2023 at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with illness.

A Private Memorial Gathering of family and friends is planned.

Linda was born to Paul Effinger and Stella Castro October 8, 1957 in Houston, TX.  After graduating from high school, Linda became actively involved with riding motorcycles. Her talent led her to the State Championship in enduro racing.  She loved the outdoors. Some of her most cherished activities were camping in Big Bend, skiing in New Mexico, and exploring Hawaii.  She was an avid sewer and quilter throughout her life and she also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and caring for her many pets.

But Linda’s true vocation and passion was her family.  It was through motorcycle riding that she met fellow racer and the love of her life, Don Engeling.  They were married in 1977 in Austin, TX and over the next 46 years they enjoyed a beautiful life together. They had three children: David, Karen, and Jeffrey.  They started ranching in Austin, TX and would later build a home and cattle ranch in Kosse, TX.

In her mid-thirties, Linda was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus.  It is a credit to her strength and resiliency that she maintained such a full and vibrant life while battling this difficult disease.

Linda was kind, generous, and loving, with a playful sense of humor.  Her strong work ethic and devotion to her loved ones made her the heart and soul of her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Don; son, David and wife Stacy; daughter, Karen and partner Jarod; son, Jeffrey and wife Kat; grandchildren, Kalena, Isaac, Adam, Rowan, and Emma.  She will be greatly missed and her memory forever cherished.

Don and family: Max and I(Joyce) send our sincere best wishes and sympathy for the loss of Carol. If you don’t know, Max an d I are Jarod’s parents. Linda was so sweet to us. She never failed to sew or create something to give us for birthdays, holidays, etc. I am using the beautiful blanket she gave me for my birthday every day. Never got a chance to send her a thank you note before she went into the hospital.

Although we didn’t know all of you personally we feel especially close to your family.
Karen is like a daughter to us.

Max and I keep you and your whole family in our prayers and wish you peace through beautiful memories
