Luther Edward “Eddy” Ward, 65, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021.
Service Information: Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, at Lake Shore Funeral Home. Burial will take place following the service at 2:00 p.m., at Wealthy Cemetery in Normangee, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, at the funeral home.
Luther was born January 27, 1956 in Clarksville, Texas to Luther Evans and Lillian Elva Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jane Ann Mandrell, Linda McCorkle and a brother, Troy Blanton. He was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Buddy and Hazel Holder of Wealthy, Texas.
Luther is survived by his loving and constant companion, his wife of 44 years, Shirley Ward; one son, Luther Ward II and wife, Christi of Hillsboro; daughters, Lillian McCuistion and husband, Keith of Lorena, Texas and Sharlet Bond and husband, Brad of Hewitt, Texas; grandchildren, Alexis, Ashley and Alyssa Ward, Gavin and Ashlyn McCuistion and Bradley, Braden and Lillian “Lilly” Bond of Hewitt; and great granddaughter by choice, Bailey Thorne of Bruceville, Texas. He is also survived by a sister, Birtie “Sue” Gallahger and husband, Don of Madisonville, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Luther was the BEST husband, daddy, pawpaw, uncle, brother and friend. He loved his family and they were what he lived for. He was never shy to brag about his wife, kids or grandkids to anyone who would listen. He worked hard his entire life as a machine mechanic and would give anyone the shirt off of his back, and oftentimes did. He was a die-hard Texas Longhorns and Dallas Stars fan and loved to attend Dallas Stars games with his son every chance he could. He also loved to hunt with his son, grandsons and son-in-laws and fish with his wife. He enjoyed trips to the zoo with his granddaughters. He loved the holidays the most because they meant more family time. He never missed a school event or birthday party for any of his grandkids. He was their number one fan and they will miss him dearly. He was a member of Praise Temple Assembly of God, now known as Connect Church in Bellmead, Texas and had a special bond with Pastor Duane Hoxworth, who will always be known as “his pastor”.
Luther made an impact on so many lives and will be missed tremendously by everyone who knew him. He fought so hard to beat this terrible disease but Covid did not fight fair. Covid may have taken his body, but his memories will live with us forever.
Pallbearers will be his son, Luther Ward II; son-in-laws, Brad Bond and Keith McCuistion; and grandsons, Bradley, Braden Bond and Gavin McCuistion. Honorary pallbearers will be his close friends and co-workers, Luke Foit and Earl Sims.
The family would like to thank everyone for the continued prayers and support during this incredibly difficult time. Special thanks to his O-I family and the kind care provided by Chasity Tello during his time at BSW.
