Marian Lynn Avent passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, in Waco. A memorial service for Lynn will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 30, at St. Alban’s Church in Waco.
Cremation services entrusted to Lake Shore Funeral Home.
Lynn was born on May 3, 1941. She was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Woodrow Avent. Lynn and her family moved to Waco in 1946 when her father entered a residency program at Providence Hospital, and she lived in Waco for the remainder of her life. She was a member of St. Alban’s Church.
Lynn’s quality of life was changed forever in 1943 when she contracted Western Equine Encephalitis in California with her family, while her father completed flight surgeon school prior to serving over seas. Although she had to deal with substantial disabilities, she remained strong in spirit throughout her life. She attended Waco High School with the class of 1959 and was rewarded with lifelong memories with the support of several beloved classmates.
Lynn is survived by her sister, Susan Avent Jacobs of Houston; her nephews, Christopher Jacobs, wife Jenni, and their son, Ben, of Houston and Craig Jacobs and wife, Ally, of Austin. She is also survived by her faithful and devoted cousins, who brought so much happiness into her life, Peggy and Steve Herbert, of China Spring.
If desired, memorials can be made to Meals on Wheels or the St. Alban’s endowment fund.
