In her early years, Macie Jean attended elementary school in South Waco and graduated from A. J. Moore High School in 1952. As the oldest child, she took on the role of mother-in-charge before she became a mother, providing care for her younger siblings. While caring for her younger siblings, she honed her skills to become an excellent cook and baker, benefiting her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and others who encountered her life. Growing up, she followed in her mother’s footsteps and learned to sew, which she loved. She was affectionately called by her middle name, Jean.

After graduating high school, she married Isaiah White, Sr., and two sons were born to this union: Isaiah White, Jr., and Donald White. During one season in her life, Macie Jean and her sons lived in Midland, TX. After several years, the family returned to Waco, and she met the love of her life, Allen Taylor. They were united in holy matrimony on April 25, 1966. In 1974, the Taylors added two daughters, who are sisters, Allendra MaChell and Deardra, to their family.

Macie Jean’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. In her early years, she accepted Christ and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Her love for God’s word was evident in her devotion and commitment to Him. She found solace and joy in music, a passion she shared with others through her participation in the church choir. Her love for singing was not confined to a single church; wherever she went, she found her place in the choir. Two of her favorite songs to sing were the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “Go Tell It on the Mountain.”

Macie’s professional journey was a testament to her dedication and service. She held various jobs, but she thoroughly enjoyed working with children at Head Start and McLennan Community College, Child Development Center, where she later retired. Her heart of service extended beyond her career, as she actively contributed to her community. She was a valuable member of the A.J. Moore Reunion Committee, sharing her culinary expertise and serving as an Election Judge, a role that allowed her to make a difference in her community.

Macie was preceded in death by her parents, Macie Brinkley and Jesse and Mildred Littlejohn; husband, Allen Taylor; son, Donald White; grandson, Jamal White; great-grandson, Devon White; siblings, Jesse Littlejohn Jr, Jo Marian Ross, and Samuel Littlejohn.

Family members who will continue to cherish her memories are her son, Isaiah (Dorothy); daughters, MaChell Thompson and Deardra Taylor-Dickey; granddaughters, Adrean White, Christa Dubose, My’Uniquia Burr and Deanna Mollett; grandsons, Montego Germany, Marquis White, Allen London, Kameron Taylor, and Avion Taylor. Macie’s siblings are Israel Benyehuda (Tenat), Vivian McCoy (Odie), Pat Hartman (Bernie), Kenneth Littlejohn, Jacqueline Collins and Michael Collins;  sisters-in-law, Peggy Littlejohn and Jane Benyehuda; and a host of nieces, nephews, and good friend Cherry Boggess.

She will be missed by her family and friends, who loved and cherished her and the wisdom she imparted.
