Marian Adeline Voss Northcutt died peacefully, February 25th, 2017 in Waco, Texas at the age of 88.
Graveside Service: Monday, March 13th at 10:00AM, at the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4 South, Burnet, TX 78611.
A reception celebrating her life will follow the grave side service at Vanderveer Street Church of Christ, 102 S Vanderveer St, Burnet. We welcome all of Marian’s family and friends to join us.
Marian was born January 12, 1929 in Beeville, Texas to William Adolph Voss and Fannie Breedlove Williams. She was the youngest of nine children. Marian graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio and married Jack Carver of San Antonio. Over the next nine years the couple welcomed three children into their home, Thomas, Karin, and John. During this time Marian was a homemaker and worked as a data entry clerk and secretary/administrator After Jack’s passing she married Leroy Christian Sager of San Antonio. They moved to Vienna, Virginia where she was a homemaker and worked as an executive secretary for a large equipment company. She took up the game of golf and volunteered to assist in local golfing events. Marian and Leroy returned to San Antonio where she worked as bookkeeper for a candle manufacturing company. After Leroy retired they moved to their retirement dream home in the Hill Country where Marian went to work as a bookkeeper for Llano Savings. When Leroy passed she became active with a ladies group and began playing golf again. She married E.L. Northcutt and the couple moved to Victoria, Texas. The couple soon began taking many golf vacations all over the world. After several years in Victoria they returned to the Hill Country and continued their golfing and traveling adventures. She became an active member of the Delaware Springs Women’s Golf Association and at the age of 60, she made her first hole-in-one. When she wasn’t golfing and traveling Marian enjoyed her children and grandchildren visiting her and watching them fish and participate in water sports. Marian was a very loving and generous person to her family and friends. Her great grandchildren knew her as Gigi, a nickname she cherished and loved.
Marian was the youngest of nine children, she was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters, three husbands, and one son, Thomas Sager, one grandson, Stephen Sager, and one great grandson Jonah Duke. Marian is survived by her children: Karin Duke and husband, Doug, of Hewitt; and John Sager and wife, Donna of Waco; Grandchildren: Kevin Duke and wife Lindsey of Irving, Rebecca Sager and husband, Chris of Santa Fe, NM, Nicholas Sager and wife, Ashley of Waco, Justine Lowrey and husband Casey of Hewitt; Kim Stanley and husband, David of Charolette NC, Pam Horny and husband, Andy of La Vernia; Great Grandchildren : Elijah Duke, Addelyn Sager, Abigail Duke, William Lowrey, Owen Sager, Hannah Duke, Jason Stanley, Steven Stanley, Tyler Tausch, Jamie Leder, Jackie Brook; Great Great Grandchildren: Lilly Stanley, Paisley Stanley, Cayden Brooks, Carson Brooks, Hadley Brooks, and Lyla Leder. She is also survived by her step children, Chris Sager and wife, Samatha of Debary, FL and Missy Goerner and husband, Herb of San Antonio.
The family would like to extend many thanks to St. Catherine’s of Waco and their staff for the care they provided while Marian was a resident. The family would like to recognize and give special thanks to caregivers Rose Ann Arellano and Carol Burns for all they did for Marian in her later years.
