Marilyn Rae Barnett

Marilyn Rae Barnett, 76, of China Springs, slipped away peacefully, with her husband by her side, on Thursday, July 13, 2017 after a long battle with Lewy Body’s Dementia, Parkinson’s, and severe Cervical Stenosis.

Celebration of Life will be at 2PM Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Lakeshore Church of Christ at 2800 Lake Shore Drive in Waco, 76709.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Florence McCulloch; brother, Larry McCulloch; niece, Mish Bailey; and her in-laws, Truman Julius and Gladys Laverne Barnett.

Survivors include her husband of over 54 years, Truman Larry Barnett; two daughters, Kelly Sanders and husband Don of Houston, Kimberly Chance and husband Derek of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Joshua, Taylor, Keaton and McKensi; sister-in-law, Tammy Fox and husband Joe of Plano.

Marilyn loved children and was a dedicated school teacher for 27 years. Her four grandchildren were her pride and joy and the subject of many conversations among those who knew her. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, and had a smile that would light up any room. She valued her friendships, loved her family dearly and always had time to lend an ear. Her husband and sole caretaker in her final years was her truest passion, and she his greatest cheerleader. Most importantly, she was a strong Christian woman who put her faith and trust in the Lord daily and raised her girls to do the same. Although Marilyn will be sorely missed, her family and friends take great comfort in knowing that she is finally rejoicing with her Lord, free from her earthly body.
