Mary Elizabeth Hollingsworth

Mary Elizabeth Hollingsworth, 82, of Woodway, passed away peacefully, Friday September 3, 2021, after battling cancer.

Service Information: Per Mary’s wishes, there will be no memorial service.

Mary was born October 30, 1938, in Waco, TX, the daughter of Ernest Pickens and Rachel (Ramsey) Pickens. She graduated from La Vega High School in 1957 and graduated from Baylor University in 1969. She also completed a master’s degree from Baylor. After college, Mary started her career at Meadowbrook Elementary and then taught at Connally Junior High. Later she taught honors algebra at Midway Junior High before retiring from Griffin Middle School in Lewisville ISD as a counselor.
In 1957, she married Jimmy Hollingsworth of Waco and had four children, Janice Hollingsworth, Elizabeth Miller, James Hollingsworth and Jerry Hollingsworth. Mary loved music, people, and traveling, especially out west. She also enjoyed following Baylor sports teams.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmy, her daughter Elizabeth, and brothers Charles and Ray. She is survived by her daughter Janice, sons James and Jerry, son-in-law, Mike Miller and her sister Patty, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff and caregivers from Visiting Angels and Texas Home Health. We are extremely grateful for the care, compassion and kindness provided for Mary during this difficult time.
