Merrion Lang Mays, 61, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, February 18th.
Funeral Service: 11AM Friday, February 27th at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
Viewing: Noon to 5PM Thursday, February 26th at Lake Shore Funeral Home. No Visitation is planned.
Merrion Mays, known to many as “Aunt Merrion”, left to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2015 in St. Catherine Center in Waco, TX, at the age of 61.
On a blistery winter day, November 17, 1953 a healthy baby girl was born to parents Robert and Jeraldine Lang, they named her Merrion Lang. At an early age Merrion accepted the Lord as her personal savior and became a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Downsville, Texas. Merrion graduated from Robinson High School in 1972. She was employed at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Waco, Texas for over twenty years until her retirement in 2005.
Merrion will be remembered most for her ability to love and accept others without judgment and her famous “Sock-It-To-Me Cake”. She loved to play bingo and spend time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Mays, her mother and father, as well as, her sister Erma Smith and brothers Aaron Lang, and Robert Lang Jr.
Merrion leaves behind her cherished children; daughter Monique Caufield (Darrell) of Waco, TX; sons Craig Mays of Waco, TX; Malcolm Dudley of Waco, TX; stepson Thomas Nevels of Waco, TX. Two sisters Inez Daniels of Golinda, TX; Shirley Simpson (Charles) of Chilton, TX. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren; Patriona, Destini, Darrell Jr., Kha’Mya, Dmar’e, and Domani. She was also survived by a host of adoring nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
