Michael Dean Niswanger, age 62, of Waco passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Waco on February 5, 1959 to parents Ira Alfred Niswanger and Lily Calcote Niswanger.
At the age of eighteen, Michael enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving many years before being honorably discharged. For most of his career, he was a zoo keep/animal curator for Cameron Park Zoo. Being an avid animal lover, he took pride in the work of caring of the different animals but especially the tigers, snakes and Komodo dragons. He also worked on various horse farms in and around Waco. Michael was well respected, loved and will forever be missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind to cherish his memory sons Paul Niswanger and Joshua Niswanger; sisters Linda Niswanger Davis and Patricia Niswanger Butler; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lake Shore Funeral Home.
