Myra K Miller, 78, was born on September 17, 1944 in Sherman, Texas, and peacefully went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Visitation:  1pm to 2pm Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel

Funeral Service:  2pm Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel

Interment:  China Spring Cemetery

She graduated with honors from Sherman High School in 1962. Upon graduation, she moved to Dallas, Texas, and began a long career in the insurance industry. In March of 1963, she went on a blind date with Joe Miller. They were engaged in April 1963 and married on May 31, 1963. It was a whirlwind romance that quickly turned to a lasting love of 59 years. She served as a pastor’s wife for 37 years, always greeting, hosting, visiting, and taking care of the needs of others. She and Joe built a lifetime legacy of service for others and showed their three daughters how to love Jesus and walk with Him.

She was ever-present for her girls supporting them through piano recitals, choir performances, and athletics. For the grandkids, she would host Camp Nee Nee where fun trips to the circus, arts and crafts, and Bible story time were enjoyed. She loved attending their sporting events, recitals, and performances. She created wonderful memories while traveling with some of them, especially during a long road trip to Alaska. All seven grandchildren at one time or another have said, “She’s the BEST Nee Nee.”

Upon their retirement, they moved to China Spring, Texas, where they quickly became involved at First Baptist China Spring and in the community. Myra would lead Bible studies, help with the women’s ministries, and cook for Wednesday night suppers and Vacation Bible School meals. She served as president and treasurer of the China Spring Civic Club and devoted hours of time to serving others. She would make visits to homebound members and open her home for fellowship. She was the first to greet visitors at church and she was the best and sweetest friend anyone could have.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; her daughters, Shelley K. Parks and husband Dr. Lynn A. Parks, Stacey L. Miller, Sherrey A. Dennis and husband CH (MAJ) D. Scott Dennis; seven grandchildren, Taylor L. Gilbert and husband Josh, Micah T. Parks and wife Ashley, Sarah Leighann Kemper, Hannah E. Parks, Sarah Grace Parks, Mary C. Dennis, and Joseph A. Dennis. She has five great grandchildren, Ethan P.R. Kemper, Hazel R. Gilbert, Asa L. Parks, Quinn E. Gilbert, and Emilia N. Parks. She is also survived by her niece, Tammy L. Mrozinski and husband Jimmy.

To honor their Nee Nee, her seven grandchildren and two grandchildren-in-love will be serving as her pallbearers.

If you knew Myra, you knew the real Myra. She was the same person to everyone everyday. In her work with family, church and community she served with joy always putting the needs of others before her own. Her absence will leave a big vacuum but her influence and faith will be remembered by all who knew her. We shall miss her deeply.

  6. Remembering “Tuesdays with Myra” will hold special memories for me of brunch with shared stories, laughter (sometimes tears) and lollygagging. She was one special lady with an infectious smile, a twinkle in her eyes and a gentle, loving heart.

I will miss my sweet friend but I know we will meet again for a beautiful heavenly reunion brunch and we’ll go lollygagging right after ❤️.

  11. Bro Joe,
One thing Myra taught me and Johnanna is to Celebrate the Life of a Believer. The hole will heal I know that but it will not close completely.. The Holy Spirit will guide you with comforting memories that will become filled with Joy. I know that too. Grieve deeply my Brother; the seasons will change to laughter but for now, we are all grieving the temporal loss of our Sister and friend while we circle you in your grief of your love and body. God Loves the death of His Saints .. Blessed be The Name of The Lord.

Myra. I see her in your kitchen on Ely Drive.. checking in the oven, then taking Sherrey out of her high chair. How WONDERFUL that she invited your neighbor’s kids – all four of them(?)- to join yours, to attend “Vacation Bible School” at your church in Novi that week! It was SO WONDERFUL to be one of your kids there that week! 😀.. all riding together in your station wagon. At the church, we listened to someone read us stories about Jesus.💕 We colored pictures of Him❣️. We were served snacks🍪🥤. We learned to sing that “Jesus Loves Me”! ❤️…I had forgotten all this, but remembered it about 15 years ago, after God saved me! God bless her. God bless you all for your servant hood in His Name. I can’t wait to see her crown! . And to visit back & forth in the mansions that Jesus has built for us, His bride. It’s only a short time, I’m sure: one can see the season that we are in… amen? May our temporary separation be short! Love to you all. Prayers too, for those hard times, that the Conforter’s presence is tangible. Amen.

Oh Miller Family! I am so sorry to hear this, although I know where sweet, precious Myra is. My Mom and Dad loved her dearly and when I met her, as an adult, I was immediately captivated by her
smile and incredible joyful spirit. What an example she was to me!!! It’s no wonder my mom loved Myra so very much. Much to love to you all, my extended cousins. Wow…. She just blessed everyone around her. I am blessed to have known her. My heart is with you all!

Over 50 years of representing Jesus as His ambassador in this world! O… no one knows all the fruit which came from the seeds/sowing & faithful watering! What an abundant harvest there must be from her labors❣️

  19. Myra and I worked together for many years at Roach Howard Smith & Hunter. I have great memories of a special friend and her treasured loving family. I was blessed just by being in her presence. She had a contagious smile. Love you, Myra Miller and family.

  20. George and Cyndi Snokhous

The Sweet Psalmist of Israel has told us in Psalm 116 that the death of one who belongs to the Lord is precious in His eyes. So, we are assured that even our Heavenly Father is saddened by the death of one of His beloved. Myra was a very special person. Anyone who met her knew instantly that she was gracious and caring and loving. We are sorry that she is gone from this world, but we know she resides in her Savior’s Arms of love and peace. We are praying for all of you.
