Omar Luna Jr., 32, of Evant, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022. Omar was born on February 14, 1990 in Piedras Negras, Mexico. He was the second child of Omar Luna Sr. and Elva R. Luna. They lived in Savage, Maryland from 1992 to 1998, and later moved to Evant, Texas in 1999. Omar was a loving son, brother, cousin, and uncle.
Omar went to Evant High School and graduated with the class of 2008. He then went to work for Knife River as a Laborer-Operator. Over the years, Omar also worked for McCarthy Building Co. and Drywall Systems Inc. His last few years he also worked as a ranch hand and helped neighbors around town.
Omar did not have children of his own, but loved his nieces Jazzmine and Giselle and nephew Liam like his own. As you can imagine, Omar was the funniest and kindest Uncle any child could ever have. He loved sitting around a bonfire, making smores with his nieces and nephew, he always had a redneck lesson to teach them, a fishing pole, and the gator ready for driving lessons.
Omar was active in the community. He devoted many hours to helping others and was known for always being ready with a helping hand. Omar loved to work with his hands and create beautiful pieces with wood. He enjoyed taxidermy, searching for Native American artifacts, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and could fix just about anything. Omar also enjoyed caring for animals, especially his dog, Cheeseburger.
Omar was preceded in death by grandfather, Jose M. Gracia; grandmother, Elba R. Gracia; grandfather, Encarnacion Luna Garcia.
Omar is survived by his father, Omar Luna Sr. of Evant; mother, Elva Luna of Eagle Pass; two sisters, Maritza Luna of Richmond and Dianna Luna of Eagle Pass; nieces, Jazzmine and Giselle Enamorado of Richmond; nephew, Liam Lara of Eagle Pass; and grandmother, Julia Arellano Canales of Piedras Negras, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

I am so sorry to hear about Omar. He used to message me on FB every once in a while and we talked a little about goats and quite a bit about his new niece. I am so glad I got to know him a little. He was good friends with Steven, but it was just by chance I got to know him a little. Steven always talked about something Omar had said to get everybody laughing at school. He loved him so. I am so sorry. Katy
