Oneta Shipley, 76, of Waco, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 9, 2011. A visitation will be 6 to 8p.m. Monday, July 11th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, July 12th at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with a 4p.m. graveside service at Capital Gardens Memorial Park in north Austin. Oneta was born January 16, 1935 in Giddings, TX to Walter Bitsy Burns and Annie Mose (Beene) Burns. She retired from the Department of the Navy after more than 20 loyal years of service. She had been a resident of Waco since 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence E. Shipley; and brothers, Elwood Burns, W.T. Burns, and Joe Burns.
She is survived by her sons: Douglas Delfraisse of Pollok, TX, James Richard Delfraisse and wife Diane of Lufkin, TX; daughters: Renee Schilling of Waco, TX, Deanna Hollenback of Aquilla, TX, and Lori Guidry and husband Darren of San Diego, CA. She was the proud grandmother of nine wonderful children

I met Nita when I was 16. She worked for Roger Jones and married Lawrence Shipley a few years later. I worked as a student in the office with Nita. I have very fond memories of Nita. She was a sweet woman
