Patricia “Patsy” Conley

Patsy(1)

Patricia Ann (Cummings) Conley, of Refugio, formerly of Waco, unexpectedly passed away at her home on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Memorial Service: 3PM Thursday, November 7 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.

Patsy was born on February 15, 1955, in Big Spring to Peggy Joyce Slaughter Cummings and Jack Cummings in Big Spring. When she was young, her family moved to Waco, where she lived for many years.

Patsy and her first husband, Grover Yankie, married at a young age and together had two children, Laurie LeAnn and Christopher Lee. Although their marriage didn’t endure, Patsy consistently ensured that her children remained close to Grover Lee and his family. Inspired by her mother’s example, Patsy dedicated herself to raising her children on her own. She spent many years working at Mr. Gatti’s, where she took on various roles and eventually became a manager. Patsy continued to serve as a manager until she left the company.

She later began working at Brookview Funeral Home in Waco, where she discovered her true calling. Determined to excel, she returned to school and became a licensed funeral director. She took great pride in providing comfort and services to those in need, considering it an honor to do so. After many dedicated years working in the funeral industry in Waco and Madisonville, Patsy retired and spent the rest of her life with her nine beloved dogs.

As much as she loved her career and dogs, Patsy loved her family even more. She often shared stories with her children and grandchildren about her brothers and sisters. Patsy was especially known for spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A true child of God, Patsy accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age. She faithfully attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Robinson for many years. Patsy had a deep love for singing, and a cherished memory for all who knew her was her beautiful rendition of “Beulah Land” with her quartet.

There are no words to truly capture how much we all love Patsy and how deeply we will miss her. Summing up her life and our feelings in a few short paragraphs is impossible. The last few years were difficult for her as her health declined, but we find comfort in knowing that she is now fully healed and walking with Jesus. He has led her to reunite with her mother, Peggy, granddaughters, brothers, and other beloved family and friends.
