Vickie, Courtney,Jennifer and Kassi,
My heart aches for you all right now. Please know that I am praying for God’s strength and understanding for you all right now. Few women exhibit the characteristics of Proverbs 31, my grandmother was one and from my dealings with you ladies all of the Courtney women are. My love to you all…
Proverbs 31:10-31 (KJV)
“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.”

I was so shocked and sadden to hear of the passing of Penny – I so enjoyed visiting with her while shopping at her fabulous store Courtney’s Two – she was such a kind person and always willing to stop and help me put items together so I knew I was walking out of the store looking wonderful! She will be missed and my heart and prayers go out to her family and friends. May God hold you close and comfort you during this difficult time!
I met Penny in 1997 at Fleetwood a year after losing my son in an accident. We became instant friends and she loved my daughter Kalli as much as I loved all her boys. We were best of friends for a couple years and yes she loved the holidays!! Had a contagious smile no matter how bad you felt, she could lift your spirits with that smile. And so full of sass !! And her laughter could be heard a block away. I was at Walmart in Waco a year ago and I heard her laughter and knew instantly who that was. Last hug I got. I was blessed to call Penny my friend. My heart goes out to the boys and her family. She definitely has her wings now.
Steve, Penny’s children, sisters and other family members:
I extend my love and sympathy to each of you. I first met Penny as this bubbly, sparkling Connally Jr. High Scool student. She always was so nice and polite to me. Then, I reconnected with her down at Sironia and she and I always visited every time I saw her. She was just this beautiful person, both inside and out. Steve, and everyone else, you just must trust and have faith in our Lord to help you through all of this. May God be with each of you.
So sorry for your loss. Penny was such a sweet person and whenever you would see her, she always had a beautiful smile on her face. She will be greatly missed.
We are so saddened and shocked by Penny’s passing. She was such a sweet, caring, kind, happy, person There are not enough superlatives to describe her. Although we only knew her as our Canton family , she was obviously someone who made an impression on us. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of comfort that only comes from God, encompass each member of her family in the days that follow as you learn to move on..her memory will never diminish for the ones who loved her and even for those of us who were acquaintances, she will always be remembered. I’m sorry if this seems rambling but the shock is overwhelming. She was a such lovely person.
God Bless You All

I just want to let you know that I am there for you all with all my love and prayers. I’m sorry I could not be there for the funeral but my boss (MOM) would not let me off, but she was there for all of us. Y’all’s mom and wife was such a sweet- hearted lady. I could not believe it when I heard the news about what happened. It is hard to swallow that she has left us, but I’m glad to know that she is home for good with our Father. I know it is hard to see it that way right now, but she is in the best place she could ever be. If you need anything at all, let us know. Love and prayers to you all and God bless.
