Raymond Hebert

Raymond Hebert

Raymond Hebert, 76, of Waco, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on August 3, 2024, at his home surrounded by his close family.

Visitation:  5pm to 7pm Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Lakeshore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco

Raymond was born on July 16, 1948, in Palacios, TX. He met his wife while working at a service station in Palacios. When her family was being transferred out of state to a new job, he asked her to marry him, she said yes so, he packed his bags and moved with them to Texarkana, Arkansas. He married Doris on December 23, 1966, in Texarkana TX.  They were supposed to be married in Arkansas but ended up in the wrong Texarkana courthouse, so were married in Texas instead

Raymond started his career in construction working for Brown & Root Inc. in Ashdown, Arkansas in 1966.  The family moved to several jobs in different states during his career.  He started his time with the company as a helper and progressed his way to Superintendent when he finished his career with Brown & Root.  From there he went to Commercial Construction where he was Building Manager for the construction of several Kohl’s stores in Texas and California.

Raymond joined the Free Masons in 1968 and was still in good standing upon his death.  He was an active member in the Church of Christ where he was a deacon and loved to help the church in any way he could.  He never failed to shake the hand of an active or retired service member and thank them for their service to our Country.  Raymond was a people person and loved to talk to everyone.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph and Anne (Knox) Hebert and his brother, Wilson Hebert.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris (Connelly) Hebert of Waco; daughter, Chan Hebert of Waco; son, Raymond “Buddy” Hebert Jr., of San Antonio; and his sisters, JoAnn (Herbert) Schneider and Shirley (Gene) Wilson of Palacios; along with several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Doris, Chan and Buddy so sorry for your loss. Raymond was a great and loving man. I remember as a young girl in Louisiana setting and watching him watch and rutting for the Washington Redskins and how excited he would get over the games. From Texas, Louisiana and North Carolina, Raymond and Doris were always apart of our family. Who would know that I would move to a small town in Texas, marry and then see a picture of Raymond, Doris and the kids on my sister-in-law Shirley’s TV . What an amazing shock it was to find out that Shirley was Raymond’s little sister. Sending love and prayers.♥️

May God touch and bless the Raymond Hebert Family. Raymond and his family are such wonderful people. I was very blessed to have the opportunity and privilege to work with Brown & Root under Raymond’s leadership. He was a great leader, mentor, provider for his family and anyone that was within his reach that needed anything whatever the need be, Raymond would always go the extra mile to meet their needs. Many times the people on his jobs would suffer family tragedies and difficult times and Raymond would ask coworkers to donate to their cause, that’s because he loved to help people. I remember times when a coworkers house burned and they lost everything, there was hunting and fishing accidents, homes flooded, car wrecks just to name a few, but there’s lots more, too much to list. I know the world would be a better place if we had more people like the Raymond Hebert Family for sure! Amen 🙏
