Rev. Jack Wayne Watson, 86, of Waco, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by his family.

Jack was born in Lott, Texas to James Quenon Watson, Sr. and Sarah Watson on March 9, 1939. His family moved to Waco, Texas when he was six months old.
Jack accepted Christ at an early age at Good Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Napoleon Weaver was Pastor. There he remained until he heard the call into the ministry in January 1979. In that same year he served as interim leader at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. The following year the church voted him to become Pastor.
Jack attended school in the Waco Independent School District which molded and shaped his public-school experiences. He was also a retired teacher at Waco Independent School District. Uncle Sam raised Jack followed by earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas. While attending Paul Quinn College he met the love of his life and married Bettye F. Davis. To this union, two daughters, Larnya Rochelle and Lana Raquel were born. At the time of his death, Jack had been married to his wife Bettye for 61 years.
Over the years, Jack held multiple administrative positions with the District’s Association, where he was a member. He served as Treasurer, Moderator, as well as Finance Chairman just to name a few. He worked tirelessly to improve the well-being of the Waco Community.
Rev. Jack Watson retired as Pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church after 40 years of faithful service in March 2020. After his retirement he was then asked to be Pastor Emeritus of Mt. Carmel he excepted and stayed faithful and active until his death.
Rev. Watson is preceded in death by his parents James Quenon Watson, Sr. and Sarah Watson. His brothers, James Watson Jr. and Therman Watson, Sr; sisters, Levon Watson Hoyle, Katy Watson Chatman, Clarice Watson Currin and Helen Watson Chatman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bettye; two daughters, Larnya and Lana; two granddaughters, Layla and Lauryn; sister, Ava Watson Stokes (Ronald) of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
