Richard Paul Simmons, 80, of Waco, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024. Richard was born on January 8, 1944 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to D.L. and Mae Simmons. After the family moved to Texas, Richard graduated from Corsicana High School where he met and then married Ann Simmons, his devoted wife of 60 years. They had 3 children and 6 grandchildren. His career included many years of service at Texas Power & Light, as an owner of several Sears catalog stores in Texas, and as a truck driver and owner/operator.
He will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana, TX, at a private ceremony in the future.
Richard was a devoted Christian, husband and father, who leaves a legacy of love and faithfulness toward God and his family.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, D.L. and Mae Simmons, and his brothers Jerry and Tom Simmons.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ann of Waco; son Cameron Simmons and his wife Elizabeth of Waco, and their sons Jacob and Benjamin Simmons of Dallas; daughter Sherri Rogers and her children Jett and Peyton Rogers, of Plano; daughter Cathi Guy and her daughters Scout Guy and Schyler Clay, of Killeen; and Richard’s sister Sandy Simmons of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
