Robert Dale Sigmon, age 66 of Whitney, TX, passed from this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on February 16, 2022, after a battle with ALS. Robert was a member of White Bluff Chapel in Whitney, and his faith in Christ and his servant’s heart was an essential part of his life.

Robert is survived by his wife, Sherry Page Sigmon, daughter Amy Page Boyd and husband Lane; daughter Amber Dawn Gipson and husband Jacob; son Landon Cade Sigmon and wife Sarah, and 10 grandchildren who were the delight of his heart (Zoey Boyd, Madelyn Boyd, Emma Claire Boyd, Sawyer Boyd, Rory Boyd, Olivia Gipson, Vivienne Gipson, Jack Gipson, Hudson Sigmon and Sidney Sigmon.) His grandchildren affectionately referred to him as Dado.

He is also survived by his mother Verna May (Davis) Sigmon, sister Linda DeWitt, nephews Steven Sigmon, Daniel Sigmon and David Sigmon, Stephen Koester, Ross Peterson, nieces Robin Koester Livingston and Raleigh Peterson Snyder, aunt Barbara Gastineau and husband Carl, father-in-law J.C. Tankersley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nita and Mike Koester, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Christi and Randy Peterson, brother-in-law J. Tankersley, many wonderful cousins and special friends, Greg and Monica Copeland and Randy and Stacia Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Gordon Sigmon, brother Harold Sigmon, niece Tracy Hale and mother-in-law Emma Tankersley.

Robert was born in Springdale, Arkansas, on February 17, 1955, to Robert Gordon Sigmon and Verna May Sigmon. He graduated from Rankin High School in 1973 where he participated in football, track, band and various other activities as a proud Red Devil. Robert earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences from Texas Tech University in 1978. He worked as a student foreman for the Grounds Maintenance Department while at Tech. He loved all things Texas Tech and enjoyed returning through the years for sporting events. In 1978, Robert went to work for Marathon Oil Co. in Iraan, TX. In 2003, Marathon sold Yates Field to Kinder Morgan. He stayed with Marathon to reach retirement age and moved to Fairfield as a production supervisor until he retired in 2005.  He returned to Iraan to work for Kinder Morgan as a Maintenance Supervisor and retired in 2016.

Robert served the community of Iraan on the Iraan-Sheffield Independent School District Board for 6 years, Pecos County Appraisal Board for 4 years, President of the Athletic Booster Club 2 years, Iraan City Council 4 years and the Lion’s Club for 8 years. He was also a member of the Texas Association of Sports Officials for the Permian Basin.

Robert and Sherry were high school sweethearts and were married on June 7, 1975, in Rankin, TX. Robert was a devoted husband, father, Dado and friend. Everyone who knew Robert knew his love for fishing, hunting, country and western music, Diet Cherry DP and Texas Tech University. Robert was a helpful guy and always looked for ways to serve others.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the nurses and aides of Community Hospice of Texas Providence Hospice, special friends, family and church members who have surrounded us with love, kindness and prayers throughout Rob’s illness.
