Roman was born on December 7th, 1971 in Asa, Texas. Roman grew up with a love for football and basketball that carried on through his life as he was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Baylor Bears, and San Antonio Spurs to name a few of his favorite teams. Roman had many hobbies which included Bible studying, praying, drinking coffee with his wife, thrifting, gardening, bird watching, break dancing, creating and building projects of all sorts, listening to music, taking pictures, telling great stories, playing guitar, antique collecting, educational researching, caring for his pets, reading Lowrider Magazine, watching comedy movies, funny videos, and game shows, enjoying German Chocolate as his favorite cake, telling jokes, pulling pranks, cheering on his grandson at sporting events, and cherishing every moment he spent with his wife, children, and family. Roman was proud of his work at the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas. Roman was a member of and was married at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Roman was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbardo and Juanita Salazar, and his brother Alex Salazar.

Roman is survived by his wife, Carmen Perez Salazar; children, Roman Gabriel Salazar Jr., Gina Naomi Salazar and Tony Barrientez III, and Patricia Irene Salazar; grandson, Tony Barrientez IV of Waco; brothers and sisters, Rosita Macias, Sofia and Paul Guajardo, Daniel and Felicia Salazar, Chris Salazar, all of Waco, Antonio and Laura Salazar of Kettleman City, California, and Eduardo and Deya Salazar of Muscatine, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The most meaningful things to Roman were his dedication to serving God, and his devotion to his family. Roman was a deeply loving and generous person to all. He was always mindful and thinking of others. Roman was unbreakable, because no matter the circumstances he faced in life, he never gave up and always made a way. He instilled this lesson in everyone. His influence and guidance will continuously have an impact on everyone who knows him. Roman took great pride in his children and grandson’s accomplishments and talents. Roman was also very proud of his commitment to his marriage with Carmen, and the love they created and share as a family. Roman will be eternally missed and loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be Roman Salazar Jr.,  Tony Barrientez III, Daniel Salazar, Gilbert Perez, Paul Salazar Guajardo Jr., Jacob Perez, Matthew Macias, and Alex Joe Salazar.
