Ron Harper, 54, of McGregor, returned home to the Father Oct. 30, 2011. He passed at home after a two year battle with cancer. Services will be 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Boots-N-Saddles Cowboy Church, 8727 Hwy 84, in Gatesville. Please call 254-495-1059 for information.

Ron was born July 13, 1957, in Waco, to Doug and Dorothy Harper. He was raised the oldest of four brothers, but late in life, discovered a world of brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord. He attended McGregor High School and graduated class of ’76. He was a man determined at all tasks handed him, with his mind set on the highest achievements. However, his greatest achievement came on Feb. 10, 2008, the day he surrendered to Jesus Christ, becoming "souly" dedicated to the tasks and works of our Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his life long love, Jessica Lynn Gray of McGregor; son, Byron Dail Harper and wife, Terri Lynn Harper, of McGregor; mother-in-law, Donna Rhea Ballard of McGregor; brothers, John Harper of Robinson, Bobby Harper and wife, Janet, of McGregor, and Tony Harper of Robinson; brothers-in-law, David, Duane, Danny, and Darrin Ballard of McGregor; sister-in-law, Kathy Skelton of Oglesby; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins, along with best friends, Jack Walter and Bobby Liendo.

The family requests any donations be made to Boots-N-Saddles Cowboy Church or St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

God does not call qualified people, He qualifies those He calls.

Ron was a wonderful person who brought a warm smile to all those who knew him. I haven’t seen him in many years but it is evident he is committed to his family and faith in Jesus Christ. He is in Heaven now, in perfect form. Peace to Ron’s family — he will be greatly missed.
