Ruby C. Carpenter, 93, of Chalk Bluff, passed away Friday, May 24th at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 2pm, Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ruby was born March 8, 1920, to Richard and Emma (Behnke) Hennig, in the community of Womack. She worked at Pipkin Drug for many years and Certainteed, before retiring on March 29, 1985 from Kmart. She loved fishing with friends on the Colorado River and having fish fries for the family. She attended Chalk Bluff Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Oliver Johnson, and her second husband of 40+ years, Raymond Carpenter; four brothers; four sisters; grandson, Mike Bright; and just recently by her daughter, Bonnie Bright on May 18, 2013.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Bill Bright of Chalk Bluff; sister-in-law, Corene Hennig of Waco; grandsons, Lawrence Bright and wife Connie of Chalk Bluff, and James Bright and partner Paul of Surprise, AZ; granddaughter-in-law, Connie Jo Bright of Chalk Bluff; great grandchildren, Christopher, Stephanie, Cheryl, Corey, Michael, and Billy; eleven and a half great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

I met Ruby through Janie Swadley and we use to visit Ruby when she lived on Speight.
Ruby shared one of her wonderful recipes with me many years ago and I still make the recipe and I always think of her. Her Pineapple Pie will always be one of my favorites just as Ruby was a good friend. Please accept my sincere condolences for your lost and I pray Ruby will rest in peace.
