Sandra Sue Weaver

Weaver

Sandy Weaver, 80, of Lorena, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 20, 2022.

Funeral Service: 1p.m. Thursday, January 27 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Steve Langford will officiate the service.

Visitation and Viewing: one hour prior to the service.

Sandy was born November 30, 1941 in Fremont, Ohio to Jack and Helen Rose Smith. Her childhood was spent working alongside her father maintaining Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont. She attended Fremont Ross High School and developed a lifelong friendship with Claudia Drake with whom she remained friends for well over 70 years. She earned her secretarial program certificate before marrying and starting her family. After relocating to Bellmead, she began her career at TSTC working in Student Services and Student Counseling. After leaving TSTC, she worked at the Groesbeck prison for a short time teaching Math to inmates working toward their GED and always shared great stories with the family. Although she sewed and knitted for years, she found her niche in embroidery work and created Grandma T’s embroidery where she did custom work for many years. Her greatest love; however, was always for the outdoors. She was fortunate to have spent several years raising cattle in Kirvin, Tx., which she dearly loved. Sandy also gave so much of herself through volunteerism. She loved working with veterans, working at the Robinson food pantry, baking cookies for local public servants and giving embroidered angels, which she created. She was a devoted Christian and member of Central UMC of Waco. She enjoyed attending church, social functions and activities, bible study and weeknight dinners. She missed this greatly when she was no longer able to participate.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved grandparents; aunts and uncles; cousin, Tammy Stohl; son-in-law, Bill Davis; and her dear friend and companion, Carter Richardson.

Survivors include her children, Suzanne Davis of Wellington, KS, Ronda Reynolds and husband Randy of Lorena, and Paula Wilson and husband Jesse of Robinson; grandchildren, Douglas Welden and wife Danielle, Daniel Welden, Cassandra Heart and husband Damon, Kyle Welden and wife Rachel, Kelsey Sanders and husband Colt, Shanna Whyburn and husband Blake, Shay Michon and husband Aaron, Ty Snell, Randa Kelley and husband Chris, Kyle Hermes and wife Veronica, Beau Nordberg, Mikhala Wilson and partner Devin Randall, and Taylor Lynette and husband Ryan and Kolten Wilson and wife Lillia; great grandchildren, Jacob Turner, Adilyn Welden, Laney and Zander Lueke, Lynnlee, Guy and Piper Welden, Paisley and Payton Sanders, Haylee Whyburn, Taryn and James Michon, Rowan Kelley, Haygen, Ellison, Chandler, Parker and Spencer Hermes, Carson Williams, and Sawyer and Navy Lynette; great-great grandchild, Everlee Turner; cousins, Lucy Mathia and husband Tom, and Amy Graham and husband Mike; and beloved and faithful dog, Muffin and her adopted “hoodie” people.

The family acknowledges a special thanks to Nancy Sulak and Debbie Walton with Bluebonnet Home Health for their amazing physical therapy care, Dr. John McClanahan and his wonderfully compassionate staff with BS&W Bosque clinic, and Dr. Marsha Henderson with BS&W Pulmonology.

Her heart was tremendous and her faith was unwavering.  She will be forever missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to Robinson Food pantry or to your favorite charity.

Such a sweet lady! I know she’ll be missed. Prayers…

  2. Paula & family
I am so sorry to the passing of your sweet mother. I remember all the games she would attend to watch Ty and his friends play. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. May God wrap his arms around you and comfort you during this time. Will keep you all my prayers.

  3. Claudia Hess Drake

When I moved to Fremont mid year in third grade, I met Sandy Smith, who was my new next door neighbor. I was a shy kid in a new environment and we became fast friends immediately since she offered to show me the way to school and walk with me. When her family moved to Oakwood Cemetery, that became our new playground. When my family would vacation at our cottage in northern Michigan, often Sandy would come with us to enjoy our lake.
Although our paths diverged when we graduated from Ross High, we have remained good friends to the end.
From being an only child, she has created a large and loving family and left her loving mark on many others as well.
I have so many good memories of our interactions over the years, her beautiful spirit will remain with me. I know that the same will be true for her family, but in the mean time, I send my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

  4. I am so sorry I have Covid and could not attend the services for Sandy. She was a great friend to me and a pleasure to work with. I first met her at Cogdell Methodist Church where we became friends. Our friendship continued as we worked together doing what we both loved at the Bernina Store where we could create and teach others. She was truly a treasure.

  5. I thank God for this amazing friend & teacher since 2009 when she taught me how to knit at Bernina. As she taught, she shared stories about her childhood at Oakwood, her beloved children & grandchildren who cared for her so well, our shared favorite program-NCIS, her faith in God & heart for His people, her love for her sweet furry companions. Her home was a testimony of love for her family, friends, hospice patients at the VA in Waco, & all the recipients of her Angels near & far as her yarn, embroidery, & long-arm machines were part of the furniture there. In our last conversation she shared with me how happy she was, & what a wonderful life God had blessed her with!
Thank you God for her inspiration, encouragement when I lost my Mom, her friendship, & her example of loving others & showing them how much she cared. I will continue to think of her each time I pass an IHOP, & will be praying for each of you as you adjust to days with memories of her instead of her physical presence. I will always love & miss you, Sandy!

  6. Your WK& C friends

Waco Knitters & Crocheters group will miss our “angel” Sandy and all the embroidered angels and knitted/crocheted items she hand crafted for the VA Hospital veterans and so many others. May she rest in peace knowing she brought smiles to many people.

  7. Tom & Dee Dee Wadsworth
