Shirley Walter, 80 of McGregor, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 15, 2016.
Visitation: Monday, January 18, 2016 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco
Chapel Service: Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 2:00PM at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Interment: Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Robinson, Texas
Shirley was born May 27, 1935 in Lott, Texas, Falls County to the late Wilburn Edward and Wilma Neal Odenbach. In 1951, she graduated from Lott High School. On November 4, 1951, Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Billy Joe Walter. Shirley took care of her family with great passion and love, she encouraged their growth and it was not until all her children were out of school that she went to work as a Supervisor for The Certain-Teed Corporation for numerous years. She was a loving and caring mother and took great joy in spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Over the years, Shirley also enjoyed fishing and camping with her family. Her family will miss her cooking and will cherish the many memories she created with her sewing and crocheting. Shirley and Billy Joe were long time members of the Harris Creek Baptist Church. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Wilma Odenbach; her infant daughter, Karen Elaine Walter; and her brother, Eddie Odenbach.
Shirley will be remembered in love by her husband of over 64 years, Billy Joe Walter; her children, Debbie Walter, Jan Ammann, and Connie Heinselman and her husband Randy; siblings, Bubba Odenbach and his wife Billie, Nora Waites and her husband Jerry, Jeannie Odenbach, and Sue Odenbach; three grandchildren, Eric Lindsey and his wife Amanda, Jodi Gates and her husband Michael, Chad Whitley, and Courtney Lynn Clum and her husband Jonathan; 3 great grandchildren, Jackson Lindsey, Brayden Gates and Alexa Lindsey; along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
Memorial donations in Shirley’s memory can be sent to Providence Hospice.

My heart aches for the loss of such a great lady. I truly loved and adored Granny. Her smile and joyful eyes along with her hugs brought happiness to all and made you feel welcome.
