Funeral Service: 10:00am, Thursday morning, April 17, at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Sonny was born March 31, 1943 in Axtell. He was a good ol’ boy, who started every morning with his coffee and cigarette… and kept up that pace throughout his day. In 1964, he married his beloved wife, Myrtle Mae Jones, in Tiajuana, Mexico, and together they spent 50 wonderful years together. He was a very dearly beloved husband and father, and his family was his heart and soul. Sonny was a meticulous, yet simple man. He made sure his appearances were top notch at all times. He enjoyed hunting and fishing… and his coffee and cigarettes. Sonny was also a loyal and dedicated man, not only to his family, but to his employers as well. For just shy of 30 years, he worked for Heritage Dedicated Services, formerly known as Plantation Foods. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lloyd Baker, Dude Baker, Eston Baker-Town, and John Grady; and one sister, Mary Frances Cooper.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Myrtle Baker, of Waco; son, Johnny Ray Baker and wife, Candy, of Port Arthur; two daughters, Mary Ryan of Hallsburg and Judy Lynn Baker Huffman of Waco; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Clarence Neal Baker and wife, Patsy, of Axtell, James Warren Baker of Bellmead, and Jerry Dean Cooper of Georgetown; one sister, Betty Ruth of Padre Island; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members and dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Bailey, Kenneth Kuchynka, Daniel Henslee, Rodney Mitchell, Nick Saldana, and Dwayne Tierce.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to our extended family at Heritage Dedicated Services, for their love, support, and compassion.
