Thomas Glenn Galloway, Sr.

Galloway(1)

Thomas Galloway, Sr, 81, of Riesel, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Visitation and Viewing: 6 to 8PM Tuesday, July 23 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Thomas was born September 9, 1942 in Temple. He was raised by his parents, Leon and Dana Galloway. Thomas was preceded in death by his twin brother, Leon “Lee;” and younger sister, Sharon.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Connie “Sweet Pea,” the most precious person in his life. His dedication and devotion to her was unconditional. Her “Lowey” thought of her above all. Even in sickness to the day of his passing, he would say “Take care of Mommy.”

He was the proud dad to three children, Dana “Dana-do” Mitchell, Thomas “Bo” Galloway, Jr. (wife Jennifer), and Kimberly “Buggy” Bilbrey (husband Chris).

He was the blessed grandfather and great-grandfather to six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Lauren “Loreo,” Brittaney “Britt Brat,” Morgan “Montgomery,” Carson “Carson Man in a Frying Pan,” Madisyn “Tay,” Miya “Tiggs,” Matthew “Boo Boo,” Taylor “Tay Tay,” Colton “Colt,” Rhett “Wreck It Rhett,” Dylan “Pickle,” Greyson “Grey Grey,” and Jaxson “Jack Jack.”

Though most of his years were spent in Riesel, the start of his married life with wife and children began in New York. Later they moved to Washington state. He loved salmon fishing. There was nothing like his fresh right-out-of-the-water smoked salmon. He was an incredible fisherman. He was also a volunteer fireman / EMT. He was a Naval Vietnam Vet and also served in the Navy and Army Reserves.

Thomas was an avid reader, mostly Westerns. He spent most of his time working his land. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals. So the plan for a working farm developed into a farm with many, many pets. All with names such as: Petula the Pig, Josh the Bull, General Lee the Mule, Cooter the Lucky/Hard Case Bull, Henny Penny & Roosey the chicken coop outcasts and for many years, Red Dog, the faithful family companion. He loved sweets more than anyone we knew- ice cream, cookies, cakes, and especially his daughter-in-law, Jennifer’s cinnamon rolls. Aside from his sweet tooth, he loved his Sweet Pea’s cooking with her spaghetti & meatballs being his favorite.

His humble spirit and sweet smile will never be forgotten and will be forever missed.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708
