Tia Rene’ Guthrie, 46, of Riesel, passed away suddenly Monday, August 30, 2021, and now resides in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Service Information: A funeral service will be 1PM Saturday, September 4 at Rock Creek Church in China Spring. A private burial is scheduled at another time for family only. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Tia was born September 25, 1974 in Waco. She attended school in China Spring and Valley Mills, and later received her Associates degree in nursing at MCC. On November 25, 1994, she married the love of her life and her best friend, Charles Guthrie. She was passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include mother, Janice Pelton and husband Harold of Waco; father, Garry Whitaker of Waco; husband, Chuck Guthrie of Riesel; children, Hayley Cox and husband Kyle of Leander, Garrett Guthrie and Hannah of Waco, Logan Guthrie and Liberty of Waco; step-children, Corey Guthrie of Dallas, Charlie Guthrie and husband Jake Schmidt of Arlington, Chauncey Guthrie and wife Hailey of Kemp; grandchildren, Kyler, Brynlee, Addi, Michelle, Arya, Gavin, Sebastian, Braeden, Eli, Cole, Heidi, and Blaire; brother, John Wesley (JW) Whitaker of Waco; step-sisters, Candi Pelton of Hewitt, and Wendy Pruett of Bryan; and numerous other relatives.

I am so deeply sorry. She was my friend, which she was one of a million . She always checked up on me to see if I was ok. I miss her so much but I know she is with our father in heaven. I am so sorry to all the family. I know this is so hard for you all. I pray that god touches your heart to ease the pain so down deep inside and hold you so tight in his arms.

Tia you were my sister in-law for almost 2 decades. We packed up and moved to Texas as one big family. We have watched each others kids grow. We made many memories over the years. You have always been strong willed and hard headed but that what made you who you are. A great Daughter, Wife, Mother , Grandmother and Friend. Tia was an amazing woman. I met her just a year ago, but it seemed as if I had known her forever. She was a loving soul and cared for everyone. I will never forget our evenings together on the front porch.
