On Saturday, November 27, 2021, Virginia Veracruz, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at home surrounded by her daughters and granddaughter. The family now rejoices that Virginia entered into the Kingdom of God.
Graveside Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 2 at Waco Memorial Park.
Virginia was born on May 21, 1938, in Waco, TX. She began a career in the nursing field by starting in labor and delivery at Hillcrest Hospital. She later went on to work for Family Practice Clinic for over 30 years. She loved working beside Dr. May Wang and assisting with cancer patients. After retirement she went and work with Dr. Homayun Seirafi in his private practice in the OB GYN clinic. Even into her 70’s she continued to care for elderly at their homes as a personal caretaker.
Virginia attended Highland Baptist Church where she served as an usher for the elderly. She loved to attend the Neomi group activities at the church. Virginia loved cooking for her family and neighbors, making flower arrangements, and gardening. She always began each day with morning prayers and a cup of coffee. Virginia was known for her quick wit, her beautiful smile and her love of taking care of her family.
Virginia was married to John Veracruz and had three daughters, Mary Ann, Josephine, Susan, and helping to raise her granddaughter, Ashly.
Virginia was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Salas Silva; father, Jose Silva; husband, John F. Veracruz; and great-grandson, Michael Andrew Silva.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Silva Ward of Austin, Josephine Matthias of Pflugerville, Susan Tovar Gonzales of Waco; and granddaughter, Ashly Marie Gonzales of Waco. Virginia was blessed with six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
