William Burl Madden, 86, of Lacy-Lakeview, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at a local hospital.

Memorial Service: 10AM Friday, August 26 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aryn Mojica officiating. A reception and fellowship will follow the service.

Burl was born August 29, 1935 in Easterly, TX to Mike and Ida Zela (Raley) Madden.  He attended Franklin ISD and graduated in May 1955. He joined the Army in July 1956 and was stationed in Germany as a Army Security Agent. Burl met the love of his life Laurene Stevens November 1954. They married in October 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Kosse. He worked at General Tire while attending TSTI/TSTC where he graduated with an A.A.S. In Air Conditioning and Refrigeration and continued his education at Tarleton. He began working at TSTC in 1968 where he worked as a supervisor in the HVAC department until his retirement in 1999 At that point he became part time as an HVAC instructor and parking control officer until the age of 80. He loved vacationing in Rockport, yearly fourth of July trips to Ouray, Colorado and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Dan and Mildred Stevens; son, Craig Madden; eight brothers; two sisters; a son-in-law; four sister-in-laws; four brother-in-laws; and two nephews.

Survivors include wife of 65 years, Laurene Stevens Madden; daughter, Cindy Madden Volney; grandchildren, Brock Allen Volney and Courtney Renee Volney; great grandchild, Chloe Renee Sanchez; sister and brother in-laws, Fredaleen Madden, Carolyn Madden , Sharon Madden, John and Marsha Blann, Dan and Tammy Stevens, Rob and Kay Harris, and Beverly Gooden; brother-in-law, Robert Lawson; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He loved his family dearly.

The family would like to thank Baylor Scott & White Hospice, Bluebonnet Health Care, Ridgecrest Retirement Center, and the VA for their awesome care and concern.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to Lakeview United Methodist Church.
