William Jesse Nunn, 55, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at an area hospital, after a valiant battle with COVID-19.
Visitation: 12:00 noon Saturday, November 21, at Bold Springs Cemetery, just outside of West, TX
Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, at Bold Springs Cemetery with Mitch Bynum, Pastor of High Point Cowboy Church, officiating.
Jesse was born December 28, 1964 in Waco. As a child, he learned the love of the outdoors from his parents, including many memorable camping trips to Colorado. He attended the Connally schools and graduated from Connally High School in 1984. Throughout his career, he worked as a Deputy Sheriff with Collin County Sheriff’s Department in McKinney, Texas and in the Emergency Department at Hillcrest Hospital before going to work for Fikes Wholesale as a Point of Sale Specialist in 2010 and later became their Technical Services Manager.
In addition, Jesse believed in community service. He served as the Fire Chief for the Elm Mott Volunteer Fire Department and volunteered his time with the West EMS Department over the years. He continued to enjoy time camping with family, as well as riding horses with James and Vickie. In addition, he enjoyed attending services at High Point Cowboy Church. His great joy, though, was always being with his family, especially his children and was he looking forward to holding his expected granddaughter.
He is survived by his parents, William Travis and Laura Gayle (Hobbs) Nunn of Lacy-Lakeview; his three children, William Trevor Nunn of West, Kathleen Elizabeth Nunn of Waco and Christopher Thomas Nunn and wife, Cassie of West. Jesse was also survived by his brothers, James Stacey Nunn and wife, Vickie of Riesel and John Bradley Nunn and his fiancée, Amanda Nichols of Waco; sister, Laura Jeanette (Nunn) Hebert and husband, Jon of Lorena; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donations in Jesse’s memory to the West EMS, 411 Meadow Dr., West, TX 76691.

In addition to the listed and well-said comments about Jesse, I would like to add that Jesse worked hard at his job. Anything that he did not know how to do, Jesse took the time to teach himself. Jesse’s IT success was built on a foundation of fundamental self-learning. He will be missed without a doubt!
A wonderful man and fun partner on the ambulance. He always wanted to talk about his kids. He loved them with all his heart.

I was just exchanging emails with Jesse wishing him a speedy recovery, it is so hard to believe he is now with our Lord.
Jesse was a talented, soft spoken man with whom I had the pleasure of knowing and working with since he joined Fikes Wholesale, Inc. some 10 years ago. The company used to have a small IT department but with him and over time it has grown. We will miss Jesse and will fondly think of him often.
I pray for peace and solace for his children and other family members. I am so very sorry for your (our) loss. May God bless you all.

Cherita Dossey Welch (Lonnie and Wanda Campbell’s great niece.)
I couldn’t have asked for a better ex-husband. He worked with me to help parent our children together, in a healthy way, with the motto that we would always put the kids before our wants or needs. That’s not an easy thing to do after a divorce but he helped to make it work. That’s because Jesse loved his kids above all else. He put family at the top of his priorities, including helping my family out when my parents’ house burned down or when my father died. He didn’t have to do that but he did and in doing so, he taught the kids that family is more than those you are legally bound to.
To Gayle, Travis, James, John & Laura, I know that your hearts are hurting and I wish I had some magic to make it a little better. I love you always.
My very best thoughts to the family and Jesse’s close friends.
